I love listening to Mike Tirico. He works on most levels, but when he led the Golf coverage he is at his very best.

Hawk Harrelson "He looks up... You can put it on the booooard... YES!" Will you look at that, somebody besides me actually likes Hawk Harrellson. I liked when he teamed with Tom Paciorek; those two sounded like they had a lot of fun. Bob Uecker with the Brewers is good. Marty Brennaman & Joe Nuxhall with the Reds were excellent. Anybody remember when Good Ol' J.R. would do the Falcons games on WSB in Atlanta? I thought he was really good.

Of course, as a Mets fan, I'm biased towards the great Gary Cohen. I think he was even better on radio (I grew up listening to him and the legendary Bob Murphy on WFAN), since he paints about as good a word picture as anyone in the industry, and has a great in-depth knowledge of the game that always keeps his commentary interesting, but right now, on SNY, along with Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling, he's part of probably the best 3-man booth in sports.
All time, though, it's still a pleasure whenever I get to hear Vin Scully. I have the DVD's of the Mets 1986 championship, and Scully just keeps proving why he's the best, and to this day it hardly sounds like he's missed a beat.

Gordon Solie followed closely by the team of Monsoon/Heenan.
Remember when Heenan went to WCW and Monsoon threw him out of the Manhattan Center. You could see Heenan crying.

Andy Gray and Joe Rogan, they both know their game inside out and offer the best insight.

Remember when Heenan went to WCW and Monsoon threw him out of the Manhattan Center. You could see Heenan crying. Really? I never noticed that. In his 1st book he said that when he and Monsoon got back to the hotel later that night, they hugged at the elevators and cried their eyes out.

In his 1st book he said that when he and Monsoon got back to the hotel later that night, they hugged at the elevators and cried their eyes out. It was on the Raw Anniversary Box set. There are definitely tears, and that little sniffle that shows he's trying to hold it in.

Ken Singleton and Jim Kaat are great color guys on the Yankees games, though Kaat retired two years ago now. Of course the late greats Phil Rizzuto and Bobby Murcer.
Also Al Trautwig. The guy can do just about any sport and be either knowledgable about it or ask the right questions of the color guy to help the sport make sense to the average fan at home. Winter Olympics, Summer Olympics, Knicks basketball, Yankees baseball it doesnt matter the guy is great.

I'll second Martin Tyler, although I get the feeling he's told to say things against his will, he's not as good as he once was.
I like Andy Gray too.

these days, Len Kasper and Bob Brenly. I was skeptical at first when they got rid of Steve Stone but Len and Bob have proven themselves to be great announcers. better than the South Side announcers by far
Harry Caray will forever be my favorite, though Dick Vitale isn't far behind

In my biased opinion, I like Tom Hamilton, the radio voice of the Indians. He gets me more exicted about a home run call than anyone else, even if it's an opposing home run.
Also, Harry Kalas has a great delivery.

I'll go for Sky's A team of Martin Tyler & Andy Gray - just keep Alan Smith far away from a mic.

Len Kaspar and Bob Brenly do a great job on television for the Chicago Cubs.
Cubs radio play-by-play man Pat Hughes is a great baseball guy and radio guy, especially since he is working with Santo up there.
Marv Albert and Gus Johnson are my basketball guys (no, not together). Honestly, I would love to see Gus Johnson doing the Final Four. He is the right guy. It's like a two-hour money shot when Gus calls a good game. And Marv is just an awesome NBA guy. I always enjoyed when he was teamed up with Doug Collins or Matt Guokas.
I like Sam Rosen of FOX's NFL coverage simply because he is so terrible. It's like he's a senile Jewish great uncle.
While we have a moment between plays, how was your morning, Sam?
IT WAS TERRIBLE. I ALWAYS HAVE A BAGEL WITH CREAM CHEESE BEFORE THE GAME. I SHOWED UP TO THE STADIUM FOR OUR MEETING AND THEY WERE ALL OUT OF ONION. I SAW THE LAST ONION BEING EATEN BY A KID ON THE PRODUCTION CREW, AND MY MORNING WAS SHOT. THEY LINE UP IN A 3-4. I STILL WANT THAT BAGEL, AND MAYBE THIS CAN GET ON TRACK.
We'll get you an onion bagel at halftime, Sam.
THANK YOU!

The current Blazer announce team is pretty good. They put over the Blazers without coming off as total homers.

Fred Cusick.Local Boston guy who did the Bruins hockey games for 25 years on Channel 38. In his 80's now, he officially retired a couple years ago. I've been able to accept transitions between sports announcers - baseball, football, basketball, wrestling, etc - but I've never been able to enjoy a Bruins game since Cusick left. Sucks this year especially, since I wanna watch how well the Bruins are doing but...I just can't do it... THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS Fred was AWESOME. He made every goal sound like it was the most important one he had ever witnessed. His voice, he knowlege, his passion. No Bruins announcer since has come anywhere close. I watch classic games on NESN just to hear he and Derek Sanderson call them. I did think Dale Arnold and Gord Kluzack were a pretty solid team. Re: Jack Edwards and Brickley. I hated them for a while, but they're slowly growing on me a little bit but: Edwards seems to be trying a bit too hard sometimes and some of his cheesey sayings need to go (Though his "This building is *VIBRATING* call from game six last spring still gives me chills) Brickley spends a bit too much time analyzing some things. I dont need a 10 min sililiquy about what I just saw. I also think sometimes he's a little too excited that the opposing team scored. And lastly, they need to stop referring to Brickle's playing days as if the guy was a hockey god.
