Results of the Rule 5 draftI actually remember watching Reegie Corona play for the Staten Island Yankees a few years ago. Guy has a good future ahead of him. So, you're saying Seattle actually got someone possibly good? Someone pinch me.Seattle has just gotten what are supposed to be some hot prospects within the last couple days. If they don't f*** this up, within a couple of years, we could have a good team. I'm still not pleased about Heilman coming over, but really, even his worst numbers are about on par with Seattle's staff. In the whole draft, Seattle got Reggie Corona, ss/2b, Yankees Jose Lugo, lhp, Twins(Traded from KC) Pat Ryan, rhp (Brewers) anyone know anything about Lugo or Ryan?

sorry for the double post, but I have a somewhat bold prediction.
Seattle will be decent this year. World Series decent? Odds are highly against it. Even getting to the playoffs? Probably not. But I could forsee a 2nd or 3rd place finish in the west(which is actually really good). I mean, I knock on the Mariners more than anyone who calls themselves a "fan" should, but I am really starting to get behind this new management/gm style that the new guard seems to be implenting.
See, the M's are a lot like TNA. They have this amazing fresh roster of young guys and hot minor league prospects. These guys are like the X-division status guys. But management brings in these guys who were decent before coming to Seattle(Bedard, Sexson, etc) and they don't really do much. These guys are kinda like the former WWE and WCW guys TNA used to have to bring in, regardless of actual talent. Ichiro plays kinda the Kurt Angle role.
But I am very excited about next year. I'd rather have a cheap, somewhat decent team with no real stars than a somewhat expensive team with big names who play like crap.

Adrian Beltre is kind of like the Booker T in your analogy. One phenomenal year followed by mediocrity.

Rangers acquired RHP Beau Vaughan from the Red Sox as part of the Wes Littleton deal.
The Rangers will get a 2nd prospect if Littleton makes the Red Sox roster out of spring training.

There were rumors of a Julio Lugo for Eric Byrnes trade, but that's probably dead since Arizona got their 2B (Felipe Lopez).
The Angels are rumored to be out of the Teixeira sweepstakes and are instead focusing their attention on Raul Ibanez and Jake Peavy.

Raul Ibanez is criminally underrated. Any team would be happy to have his bat in their lineup.

First he went to California to finish up the Sabathia deal, now he is going to Texas to talk to Andy Pettie. Brian Cashman should look at college recruiting, that is what they do in college when trying to get a player that is in high school, go to their house. LOL
Maybe it is a new trend.

Raul Ibanez is criminally underrated. Any team would be happy to have his bat in their lineup. He can't field for his life. Also, he had some good stats because he played every game. He gets hurt, you're screwed.

According to Yahoo! Sports, two top executives with one of the teams chasing Mark Teixeira expressed frustration Thursday that it appeared the Boras camp was using the media to ratchet up the price beyond what any team had actually offered.

He gets hurt, you're screwed. I'll agree with your first point, but I don't really get your second point at all. Every starter's stats are high because they play the majority of the games, and anyone would take a hit stat-wise if injured. But like Sajoa, I am a HUGE Raul fan. I was very upset when we let him go the first time, and I'd hate to see it happen again, especially to a division-mate.

How about the days when aquiring the services of Richie Sexson was a "good move"?
