This makes me want the NEWZ of McMahon returning with a Howard Hughes type eccentric billionaire gimmick to be real.

Ny Daily News mentioned this today. ". . . WWE honcho Vince McMahon in an “uber-tight T-shirt” eying a pretty lass in a Florida airport so hard, she got up and left . . ."

To be fair, Vince probably thought he was seeing a new act at the AC/DC show. This is the same Vince who wouldn't let Metallica perform for free at SummerSlam '97 because he'd never heard of them.

I dont believe it. Metallica and the word Free do not go together. I can not believe this, especially after they busted balls for using "Enter Sandman"

They were offended back in '97 so they decided to be assholes when WWE came around and wanted something from them. And the whole free thing is true, also. They wanted to perform songs from the ReLoad album which was just being released to help promote it. They thought it'd be a win-win for both parties because they'd get to shill their CD on WWF TV, and WWF would get extra buyrates by having Metallica on their show. I don't remember whose shoot interview this story is in, but I know I've watched it.

I could've sworn "St Anger" was used as a ppv theme not too long ago tho

Oh Vince. How things never change. Being a grandfather of four obviously hasn't mellowed him out in his old age.

What are you talking about? Vince is "with it", I mean wasn't having the Rad Radford character on TV back in '95 to show how much McMahon kept up with the times to have pop culture street cred (I mean sure it came out about 4 years after Nevermind was released and a year after Cobain died and the kids were getting more into Green Day at this point.......) Here's what I don't get. Even if Vince didn't know/care about Metallica, what would be the harm in him being able to exploit their talents free of charge?
