I think one of the contributing factors of ratings being down on WWE programming is that you can watch an entire Raw or SD or ECW on youtube or some other video sharing site. WWE needs to put there full shows online somehow!

They do have a webcast version of ECW, but I believe you have to pay for it. WWE Universe does have a YouTube channel though: uk.youtube.com/WWEFanNation

They did with Heat towards the end. And they have ECW replays avaiklable the next day. To me, putting an entire show on the internet pretty much declares that said show doesn't matter

I could see them having a deal sort of like the networks where you can watch TV shows on their website but with ads. They sell their albums on iTunes, but I don't know if they would sell their TV shows, though I guess they could get some money that way. I think their best bet is to use their own website and to allow visitors to watch the shows, financed by advertisers. This seems to work well with ABC, NBC, USA Network, etc.

I dont think YouTube has contributed to their declining ratings. The people that watch it on YouTube are generally people that dont have satelite/cable so they have no other way of watching it. And if they are watching it online then they buy the DVDs/tickets/other merch. That's what my friends and I did when we were at uni.

I should have added that putting these shows on their website would hurt ratings. I know that I don't always watch programs when they initial air knowing that I can catch them online at my convenience.

What I'd like is for them to put whole episodes up and us not have to friggin pay for it like 24/7, which I can't get on TV anyway because I have Dish DVR.

I'd like the WWE.com shows to be made available in podcast form.

yeah that would be cool for them to let people put their shows on ipod, kinda like a digital copy. Only problem is that the wwe is so behind as far as technology goes. They only put out one blu-ray movie as it is.

It might just affect ratings, but it wouldn't be in the millions. It might be a few thousand people that don't watch on television but watch on Youtube, but I doubt anything that could affect the ratings.
Putting Raw & Smackdown on a site like Youtube would destroy it though, I think the allure of a weekly wrestling show is that they have a whole week to build anticipation up for the next show. Making it available, for free, anytime for the whole week would give the audience enough time to grow bored of pick holes. The main shows deserve to be on primetime television, because anything on youtube or other video sharing websites is subpar compared to it. Maybe it shows 20,000 views on their site, but it's could be at the end of the day, 1 million people watching the video 20 times, and you're not gonna get that with a 90 minute+ episode of wrestling.
