I know this wasn't his intention, But its like he is saying the only way for punk to have a great match is being in there with someone and adapts to his style. I know, Every wrestler has to have that. But can punk adapt to other wrestlers style week after week? If not his feuds will be with the same 2 or 3 wrestlers. I always thought storm liked punk. He does like Punk, he's just saying that's a bone people pick with Punk. Your right, I overlooked the part saying "when I here people". Thought storm turned heel on punk through a blog. lol.

See there are tons of guys that quite honestly need someone at their level to have a great match. Booker T is pretty much the same way (and Storm actually mentioned this a while back), in that while Booker is a great worker, he can't carry people himself. He's good, just not THAT good. Either way, those two had an extremmely impressive match.
I say there's nothing wrong with that, because for every Micheal Jordan (Chris Jericho) you have to have a Scottie Pippen (CM Punk). Orton is someone that doesn't get too much credit, but I honestly feel that man could draw heat wrestling Osama bin Ladin, and work a top notch match with a jar of JR's BBQ Sauce.

Ah, but I thought Lance Storm didn't like anything, hmm?

I would love to see HBK have a little feud with CM Punk cause i think those matches would be flatout amazing! Hell when the teased it on Raw i was like YES YES YES! Jericho is a brilliant wrestler, and is on the level with guys like Edge and HBK in have the ablitly to carry anyone to a great match. Punk vs Jericho wasn;t my fav TV match of the year ( that goes to HBK vs Hardy, then Hardy vs Umaga Cage match) but it sure was one of the 5 best.

Lance is definitely making a point that often gets overlooked; the ability to adapt in wrestling is so pivotal and so vital to becoming more than just an "ok worker".
It's a big reason why I'm such a huge fan of Bret Hart. Hart could totally change his style and storytelling to match his opponent. Just watch his DVD, and notice the differences between his match with, say, Bam Bam, and his match with Hakushi or Mr. Perfect. Yes, Bret would still hit his signature spots, but his selling, movements, even facial expressions would be different to match the style of opponent he was facing.
Same's true of guys like Randy Savage, and other legends like that.
I think Punk can become that guy, but let's not forget that he's still pretty young. Punk's capable of adapting, and has proven it in the past, but being able to consistently do it would put him on another plateau.
Now, I'm not saying every single legendary wrestler was able to do this, or did it all that often. I mean, if you had a big guy like Vader, the last thing you'd want to do is force him to adapt more than once in a blue moon to facing a guy bigger than him, or something like that. That doesn't mean Vader isn't an all-time great, though. Andre, too; it's not like Andre had to vary things up too much, since his role was always "work like a giant against this guy."
Same for Hogan. Hogan almost always fought guys bigger than him, various monsters and whatnot, but that doesn't take away from his legacy.
But Lance is absolutely right that wrestling needs guys who can adapt. I think there are a lot more young guys today who are capable of it, but either need to be given the chance, or just need a little extra time to learn. Punk, I think, will get there sooner than later.

Unless something wows me tomorrow night, I'm gonna say this was the best free TV match of the year. Well they do tend to go all out on the last RAW of the year. Off the top of my head... HHH vs. Shawn in 2003. HHH vs. Flair last year And I think Trish/Lita also was towards the end of the year as well.

ORTON'S GOING TO RIP THAT JAR'S LID STRAIGHT OFF! HE HAS A FAMILY, ORTON!!" *Orton shrugs, twists lid, applies to food liberally" "..JR, this is the company BBQ, remember? You ASKED me to open this jar for you.." "....STONE COLD, STONE COLD, STONE COLD!!"

Send Hunter and Taker to Raw and send those two to Smackdown. Factor in the occasional spat with Umaga and maybe Kennedy if he gets things in order? Get MVP back on track and send him in to motion. Morrison too?! *head 'splodes* You could re-create the Smackdown Six (some of Heyman's best booking from 2002) with Punk/Hardy vs Jericho/Edge vs Kennedy/MVP or some other combination that would work And with that, the awesomeness became too much for young Convoy to bear.

It was a tremendous match, made all the more better by the crowd being WAY into it.

CM Punk vs Jericho vs Jeff Hardy vs Edge. My head just exploded at the possibilities. Send Hunter and Taker to Raw and send those two to Smackdown. You know what's coming...

Storm probably knows better than I do, but it seems like Punk's style is a part of his Gimmick. So while he is probably more than capable of performing "WWE style," it would change his character if he were to drop what he does now. I've never been in the ring, but those two styles look difficult to mesh well. It seems to me like there isn't much Punk can do about it as long as he uses that style. Propose a Puro Boot Camp with Sgt. Muta?

Interesting comments; i especially liked the part about Lance marking out for the springboard into the codebreaker, since Lance was the guy Jericho ran the move by, practiced with it when Jericho was getting back into ring shape before his return.
Punk does work a different style and I like it a lot. He's one of the best strikers in the company right now. Lance's comments about wrestlers stepping up and adapting to that style is quite interesting, as Lance was also the guy who loved working RVD, saying that you had to keep up with him, work really really hard, but it was worth it, since Rob's such a great talent. Regal also noted Punk's abilities in a recent interview.
