I'm never going to be the person to tell someone they're over rating something they liked, that isn't my style, but one match this year does stand out as one that I seem to be a very small minority against. The storyline build was excellent, the promos and video packages were flat out amazing, but then they got to the Rumble itself... I was expecting SO much more out of Jeff and Randy. It's kind of funny, arguably the most important match of Jeff's career at the time turned out to be well down the list of his best overall for 08. To me anyway. I see people all the time saying how great it was, but I just saw it as another mediocre match where the build totally exceeded the final product. It's funny you mention this match MGH, because I was at a Poughkeepsie house show about 3 weeks before the Rumble, and this same match was performed there. I called everything they did from my seat that night at MSG, so automatically, I call Orton and Hardy overrated for that alone.

You are one angry, angry man. How are you getting anger out of that? Do I honestly come off as a angry person? Not usually bro, but your comment on the Flair/HBK match had some venom behind it with the bad language etc.

You just come off as angry and defensive a lot of the time.

Taker/Edge, idk i guess the match was iite, but it wasnt so great compared to Flair retiring/Orton retaining, and the exciting MITB IMO, and it was just like when Taker won the WHC at Mania 23 WOW! i couldn't agree more with this post. I know there is alot of love for Taker vs Edge at WM and don't get me wrong i love it to but i think HBK/Flair, Money in the Bank and The Triple Threat were better matches. I just felt like Taker /Edge did sooo much better at Hell in a Cell and TLC. And i recall Edge himself saying his match with Taker at WM wasn't his fav. That is were my "overrated" call for that match comes from, cause they man in the match himself said AS for the the other "angry poster" i don't think he is angry, just feels strongly that Flair vs HBK is overrated. Just the way they expressed it

CM Punk vs. Snitsky.
Most people rate Snitsky's matches as duds. Suddenly, he's in the ring with the internet favorite CM Punk and it gets one star?
Yeah, totally overrated!
...
Did I get the meaning of this thread?

Did I get the meaning of this thread? IMO, it was a decent big man vs. smaller man match. And their first match after Punk won the World Title sucked, but the one I'm sure you're talking about is their IC Title Tourney match.

If you watch the match for what it is.... a wrestling match, it's not that good. But as most would agree... it's the story in the match that makes it one of the best of the year. Ala' Hardy vs. Undertaker - Ladder match how can a match that never happened this year be rated at all let alone overrated? you may be referring to the extreme rules match?

You know, a month ago I would have said it was the Shawn/Jericho ladder match. I watched it the night of the PPV and felt so let down that their feud was going to end on that note. I hadn't watched it again after that, not bothering to factor in that at the time it was 4 in the morning, I couldn't sleep, and I was cranky. No mood to be watching a PPV. A friend of mine kept on me about it, so I watched it again a couple of weeks ago. Watching it when I was in the right frame of mind, I saw how great a match it was. Won't put it above the Unsanctioned Match, but still up there. May I just say, your friend sounds very smart. I'd say the Shawn/Y2J match from Great American Bash. A lot of people seemed to like it, but it was honestly, to me at least, 5 minutes of decent wrestling. Followed by 20 minutes of Jericho beating down Shawn. I can see where you're coming from, but personally I waited 5 1/2 years for that beat down so I loved every millisecond of it.

You know what... I liked the HBK/Jericho ladder match but didn't find anything particualry great besides for that amazing ending spot. I think its less because of the performers but that one on one ladder matches have been done to death... there arent really any more innovative spots left.

John Cena vs Triple H
I didn't think either of them showed anything great in this match. Of course Cena used his usual 5 moves of doom and the ending totally took me out of the match.

Flair v Michaels.
It's not a bad match, it's a good match. But unless you were emotionally invested in it at the time, it was just a good match.

Jeff vs Taker the "extreme" match. Thought i was vastly overated, it was good but nowhere near as good as some people have made out.
