HBK comes out to his sissy dance, music and pyro. Halfway down the ramp, JBL comes out and says that since he works for JBL, he calls the shots in his career (what he wears, what his entrance is, etc.). No more pyro and he now comes out to JBL's music. Maybe on the TitanTron, a logo shows up that reads "Property of JBL" for good measure.
For the next few weeks/months, HBK uses JBL's music, no pyro, no dancing and maybe even changes his ring gear. It may actually give him some heat instead of this "do I cheer him or not" thing he has now where the crowd basically does nothing.
Whatcha think?
Note: No where in this do I have HBK do his puppy dog face. I am so SICK of seeing him ready to cry every 2 minutes.

Does JBL happen to take HBK's current attire, burn it in a trashcan, and hand HBK a business suit? Because it sounds like that should happen here.

I would do this with the angle,
The angle progresses but then when HBK is just about at the poorest/lowest point he comes out with a smile and says, "You know what JBL...this is EXACTLY what I wanted!" That's right. HBK then reveals that he was never broke to begin with, he was just pretending to be because he wanted to trick JBL and get inside his mind and his house...and now that he has, he, HBK, has learned a lot of JBL's secrets...
Next week its revealed that HBK has destroyed JBL on the stock market and is now actually the richer of the two men, so it winds up that JBL is the one that's been "led on" all this time and not HBK and that HBK had outsmarted JBL all this time.

Wait, how does laying down and giving up a shot at the World Title just to lead someone on and learn some of their secrets qualify as "outsmarting" them?

Shawn's going to hit the lottery. However, since he bought the ticket on "company time" JBL will lay claim to it.
That is, of course, complete nonsense, but this is pro wrestling so everyone involved with the WWE will accept this and bemoan how horrible JBL is for doing this.
Then we'll have a "Ticket on a Pole" match at No Way Out.
However, the lights will go out, and when they come back, the Undertaker has stolen the ticket. Why? Because business is slow with modern medicine keeping people alive so his side-casket business has went bankrupt...it also probably didn't help that all his caskets had the Kamala design or were big enough for a sumo wrestler.
This leads to Shawn Michaels v. The Undertaker at WM in a "Click it or Ticket" match where there will be buttons put on all four corners and the competitors must hit the buttons in succession. Yes, a strap match without a strap, but more drama because once performing the "Click it" part of the match, you receive a key that unlocks a lock box that contains the ticket.
This lockbox is in the bottom of a dumpster filled with random items like rakes, somberos, and DJ Gabriel's pride.
Of course, JBL would be banned from the match because he will have been arrested for insider trading, taking a hint from the executive of Kung Fu Corp, headed, of course, by Orlando Jordan.
Who wins? Who knows...cause my cough syrup is wearing off. Daggone cold.

Stock market multimillionaire and extremely business savvy and cunning entreprenuer JBL gets outsmarted by a guy who still spends every other week making cheap shills and joking around with HHH (not that I dislike DX, thats just their shtick). Also as already stated, what's the kayfabe logic in HBK deliberately pissing away a shot at the world title?

Here's what I'd like to see.
It's JBL vs. Cena at the Royal Rumble, right? And HBK is still an employee of JBL. So, JBL demands that HBK help him win the title from Cena, which he does. Later in the night, during the actual Rumble match, HBK is eliminated by either JBL or Cena, who enter illegally to throw him out. (my preference would be Cena, since he is the one who actually lost the title match.) A SmackDown! guy - let's say, for the sake of the storyline, HHH - wins the Rumble.
The next night on Raw. HBK comes out for a promo and basically says something to the effect of: "I had the match won until John Cena came in and eliminated me, so I want my World title match at WrestleMania." This brings out both Cena and JBL, and a match is set up for later in the night: HBK & JBL vs. Cena in a handicap match. HBK & JBL win, and when JBL tries to "take out" Cena, HBK stops him.
It is decided that at No Way Out, it will be Shawn Michaels vs. John Cena in a Number-One Contenders' match to determine who faces JBL at WrestleMania. After a good back-and-forth match, JBL comes out, but his intentions are unknown: is he there to help his "employee," Shawn Michaels, and ensure that he will lay down at 'Mania, or is he there to help Cena, since he doesn't want to risk having HBK turn on him? HBK & JBL begin to argue, and the ref gets involved, trying to get the match back on track. HHH makes his way through the crowd at this time and attacks JBL, while "out of nowhere" (actually hiding under the ring) Randy Orton hits an RKO on Cena: "If I can't have a title shot, neither can he!" is his rationale. HBK hits a top-rope elbow and scores the pin, becoming the Number-One Contender and earning a World Heavyweight title shot at WrestleMania against JBL.
This gives us HHH vs. whoever is WWE champion (I'm guessing Edge) at 'Mania, JBL vs. HBK for the WHC, and Cena vs. Orton. Not too bad for some "on-the-fly" armchair booking, eh?
