IT'S TOO f***ING HARD!
I usually don't have a problem with challenging games, but this is an exception. I mean, it's not all that bad, but as soon as my opponent gets any momentum, I'm f***ed. Once I start to lose, I can't stop losing. I can't hit any moves, I can't reverse anything, and I end up tapping out to an armbar in nine minutes. I mean I like the game a lot, but it's f***ing frustrating.

Here's a hint:
As soon as the wrestlers lock hands, do the input.

I'm sorry, and I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I JUST don't see it!
The game almost too easy for me, but still a lot of fun to play. So long as I have a good match, I don't mind losing it, however I rarely lose.
What difficulty level are ya playing on?
Also, yeah. The timing and absolutely not button mashing is important.

IT'S TOO smurfING HARD! I usually don't have a problem with challenging games, but this is an exception. I mean, it's not all that bad, but as soon as my opponent gets any momentum, I'm smurfed. Once I start to lose, I can't stop losing. I can't hit any moves, I can't reverse anything, and I end up tapping out to an armbar in nine minutes. I mean I like the game a lot, but it's smurfing frustrating. I'm guessing that you are still rather used to the SmackDown vs. RAW controls, which are considerably more button-mash heavy. But here's a quick rundown of what you need to keep in mind: Like Mr. Amigo said, once you do a grapple, it's a race to get the move off first. Also, when you do grapples, you'll want to use the Square button first (which are weak grapples), then slowly but surely work in the medium grapples (X button), and then the heavy/finisher grapples (4 of which are on the O button, with the 5th being mapped to a combo of Square and X). Also, during the match when your opponent is down, you may want to breathe, especially if you get beaten senseless for a good while before you can stop the momentum. Breathing is a big key to lasting in matches. I hope that this helps you out, Jake.

I get that I need to press the buttons before them, but they always beat me to the punch. And it's not worrying about breathing when I get them down that's the issue, IT'S GETTING THEM DOWN THAT'S THE ISSUE! I mean, if I start out doing well in a match, I'm usually alright, but it just seems that if my opponent hits about 5 moves in a row then I'm not going to land another move during the match.
And I usually have the com level at 2.
And I thank you guys for trying to help me out, it's just that it's REALLY f***ING FRUSTRATING.

I almost never lock up in the first five minutes of the match. I usually just punch or kick and move. If my opponent starts building a rally on me, I either go back to punch and move, or I roll out of the ring and breath and pose. Then it's like starting the match over again, in a sense.

Well my luck seems to be turning around. I'm not exactly winning a lot of matches, but I am at least landing moves and lasting at least 15-20 minutes before I lose. Thanks for everyone's help.

I had the same difficulty when I first started playing, but I just kept at it until I got the timing down. Now I can hang with guys like Kawada and Misawa on level 10. I don't necessarly beat them, but you get the idea.

At this point, it's more about putting on good matches than actually WINNING.
I usually have to let the computer beat me up a little in order to make the match more exciting

You know, if i I could find this game reasonably priced in my area I would pick it up just to see what the hype is about.

i played this game constantly for about a month, and came to this conclusion:
it sucks hard, and may be the most boring game on earth. i would rather play superman 64.
that being said, mr. jake, the jake, jake wins several thousand cool points and a cookie for having not only blitzkid in his sig, but also j-sin trioxin as his avatar.
