Whether it be the most common misconceptions, such as Warrior, or others, we've all been mistaken on who we think is playing a wrestler at one time or another
For example, when JBL debuted in WWE back in January 1996 as Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw, I thought he was being played by Tyler Mane, who was coming off a WCW stint three years earler as Big Sky

I'm still, somewhat convinced of this, but I have pretty much let go my delusion over the years.. but I believed the Undertaker vs. Underfaker idea was literally a last minute, thrown together storyline to keep Undertaker face when he returned.
Reason I say this, is after Dibiase "brought him back".. there was a segment where Paul Bearer tried to lure Undertaker with the urn and Dibiase lured him with money. Now, from the point where Dibiase brought him out to this particular segment.... i could've SWORN it was Mark Calloway. However, the moment Bearer did his "It's not the real Undertaker" promo... I noticed a definite different look.
So my theory has always been that Undertaker was meant to come back as a heel... but, at the last minute decided to have him return as a face and just threw together the fake Undertaker idea.
Of course, I was young... and had no idea who Brian Lee was at the time.. so chances are, if it was Lee the entire time.. I might have just WANTED to see Calloway.

When he debuted in WWF, I assumed Kurt Angle had been the Patriot a couple years previously

For a split second, I actually wondered if Kane (when he first debuted) was really just Sid in a mask. Then I realized it was 2008. :-\

Actually, you are sort of correct. As the following video shows, it was Brian Lee that was re-introduced as the Undertaker (you might be able to tell by how he walked). That being said, when he talked, he lip-synced to Mark Calloway's voice. Pretty smart, huh? www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/dibiase%2Bundertaker/video/x7bn41_ted-dibiase-reintroduces-the-undert_sport

I thought the Blue Knight was Greg Valentine at first...I believe it turned out he was Phil Apollo. No I'm pretty sure it was Greg Valentine. There has been speculation and I think it finally came out a few years ago that it was in fact Valentine like everyone thought. The other two knights on Michael's team were Jeff Gaylord and Barry Horrowitz

I remember Gaylord and Horowitz being the black and red knights, respectively, but I guess then my initial suspicions about it being Valentine were correct.

I was fooled though, I thought DiBiase had the real deal, and as a kid, the thought of two Undertakers scared the hell out of me, lol. To the people who said they thought Damien Demento was Jesse Ventura, don't worry...you're not alone, I thought the same thing.

At a certain point, I had NO idea that Ron Simmons played Farooq, and for that matter, had no clue how to pronounce the name in the first place.

I know a few guys who used to swear up and down that Paul Bearer and Brother Love were the same guy.
