I found it funny. I don't really care about the Emo argument, it's not really that big of a deal where I live anymore. Two years ago when I first saw this (and was getting called Emo regularly because I dyed my hair) I still thought it was funny. Relating to Mad TV, I love Crista Flanagan.

No one should make fun of anything ever...you may hurt someone's feelings. I completely agree with this. And I'm being serious. No sarcasm intended. I know everyone has done it at some point in their life but I make it a point to not make fun of someone no matter what they believe or what lifestyle they live. While I may not agree with the way some people live their lives,it is their life and not mine so why make fun of them for it? Just because someone may be different than you doesn't open them up for ridicule. Not trying to be all high and mighty here. Just expressing how I feel.

Are you by any chance...an emo? Seriously, I don't really think this bashes emos. It just makes fun of an emo stereotype in the same way that all stereotypes are made fun of. MadTV doesn't just pick on emos. They pick on everybody! Lighten up. No, I'm not an Emo, but I'm so f'n tired of people making Emo-based jokes EVERYWHERE, ALL THE TIME. I go on the web, people are bashing Emos, I watch TV, people are bashing Emos, I listen to the radio, I read the papers, I f'n overhear people in the bus, always emo-bashing. Can't people spend a f'n day without blaming all their trouble on Emos?! And it's always the same overdone jokes! I mean come on! If it ever was funny (which it wasn't) it is NOT anymore. I might understand that some random dude makes some of these jokes, but when professional comedians, who actually get PAID for it keep making these old dumb jokes, it makes me want to go on a rampage through the city and make them eat their text. Seriously, it's like Emos are the video games of the collective Jack Thompson*. That analogy sucked. *With Micheal Bay being the runner-up. Oh, quit being such an emo about it.

Yeah, a world without comedy where nobody called anyone out on anything sure sounds fun. If nobody made fun of what other people do comedy would die. Carlin, and Hicks made fun of the establishment, Hedberg made fun of himself, Eddy Murphey and Richard Pryor made fun of everyone and everything including themselves and their families. Some of you guys need to grow the heck up and stop making things so personal.

I just feel there are better ways to make people laugh than making fun of someone. Of all those comedians you mentioned,I never found any of their stand up funny with the exception of Hedberg whom I've never heard. A good natured ribbing is fine as long as you're not flat out insulting someone and the person knows you are just kidding. That's how I feel. If someone feels differently, that's fine but I stand by what I said.

If you have never found Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, or George Carlin funny then you need to go find yourself a sense of humor. 99% of all comedy is pointing out stupid things people do. The very fact that you even think good comedy is possible without satire, parody, or witty mockery is completely baffling. Just out of curiosity what do you find funny?

I don't mind satire or parody as long as it isn't insulting. I have a great sense of humor but I don't like the foul mouthed comedians. That's my main gripe on those guys. I like Bill Cosby and Bob Newhart's stand up. They can be funny without using foul language and insulting people. I don't mind if someone drops some curse words here and there but I don't like to hear that stuff every 5 seconds and would prefer if they didn't use any at all. It's just the way I am and always have been. If that stuff is what you find funny, that's cool. Like I said in my first post, this is my personal view. I'm not going to speak for everyone because I know I'm in the minority. I just wanted to share my take on it.

Right off the top of my head I can remember sets where he makes fun of his dentist. In another one Bill makes fun of alcoholics, and the way drunk people act. He also makes fun of himself, and members of his family. Like I said before its very hard to find comedy that isn't at someone eases expense. Its like Mel Brooks said if I fall down and get hurt its a tragedy, if my neighbor falls down and gets hurt its comedy gold.

Like I said earlier, good natured ribbing is okay as long as it's not insulting. Poking a little fun at yourself and your family is okay because they know the joke. It's just when you insult a whole genre of people that you don't know like the video in this thread,I don't find that remotely funny. I haven't heard the alcoholic sketch by Cosby but chances are,I wouldn't find it funny if he's making fun of an entire group of people. Laughing at yourself and your friends and family is one thing as long as they get the joke. But when you make fun of someone based on their lifestyle, religion, race, etc. I don't find that to be humorous at all.

Personally I think comedy based on lifestyle, religion, race, politics is great. There is an old saying that goes "If your going to tell people the truth you better make them laugh or else they'll kill you." In our society I believe comedy is a great tool that allows messages to get through to people who otherwise may never have been open to them. If nothing else comedy about touchy subjects gives the people hearing it something to think about.

There is something hilarious about your posts being made on a board that is part of a site dedicated to viciously making fun of Pro Wrestling angles.
