Regardless of what anyone thinks about Christian coming back or not coming back unless Dixie Carter is intentionally swerving us (which is certainly possible) then he has come back to WWE. Now if he'll be in any kind of major program, who knows? Her quote was pretty cut and dry though "He was the first to jump to us, and now he is the first to jump back" Jump back can only mean one thing. Maybe. But still it's not like WWE ever said he would be back officially, so the only people getting themselves ready for dissapointment are the fans who go conclusion jumping and assume he was going to be at the Rumble as one of the 30 entrants or the guy who cost Hardy the WWE title by reading these newz sites. Completely agree. A number of people convinced themselves he was Hardy's attacker based on newz reports despite all the rather obvious clues it was Matt.

Fixed for a more likely scenario... Seriously, we've been insisting on Christian coming back for at least one month already, if not more, and there's still no sign of him. At this stage how likely is it that WWE are still keeping his comeback a surprise AND nothing relevant has leaked? I mean nothing that can be proved or that actually happened... not the "he'll be back at the next PPV" crap Newz Sitez have been coming up with Isn't it easier to admit all the "spoilers" about him were 99% guesswork/fantasy booking many fell for because they wanted him back so badly? Maybe he'll be back before Mania, maybe after it, maybe as part of the draft, maybe he won't be back... It's called "Denial." People refuse to admit that they're being worked by the NEWZ sites who are simply making stuff up in order to generate more hits on their website. And they refuse to believe that Christian is not the savior of wrestling that he's being treated on this board as. They're hearing what they want to hear and believing what they want to believe. The fact that he was a main eventer in TNA means absolutely NOTHING to Vince. Not one thing. Proof? Ron Killings was a former champ and one of TNA's upper card. Monty Brown was never champ, but was always at the upper-mid card/main event level. Heck, even Chris Harris did fairly well for himself in TNA, and we all know how well his WWE run went. Christian was a low- to mid-card comedy heel when he left WWE. There is absolutely NO reason to believe that Vince is going to bring him back and thrust him in a main event program. Outside of one off-hand remark from Dixie Carter (I think), we have absolutely no proof that he even signed with the WWE at all. Honestly, I'd be more willing to believe that he'd be used to prop up the ECW roster than he would in some main-event program with Edge/Hardy/whoever. ECW could really use the help right now, and Christian is a big enough name to headline that show. But to most WWE casual fans, he's not as big a name as some on this board think he is. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if many of them barely knew who he was at all. Low to Mid Card??? The guy's a former IC Champ, Tag Champ, Euro Champ, Lightweight Champ, and just finished a very successful run in TNA where he held that title. I think at least he has to be considered mid to upper card, with possible main events. During the summer of 2005, he had a main event program with John Cena and Chris Jericho. I don't know if or when he'll be back, but I think the crowd wants him. From what I read on here, there were "we want Christian" chants during the Hardy/Edge match at the Rumble. Clearly some people must remember. He might be the Matt Hardy to Edge's Jeff hardy, but they are still both pretty over with the crowd. It's certainly not a Marty vs HBK kind of thing. I feel like at some point there will start to be some type of promo videos and that maybe Christian will be back before Mania, but who knows really. Maybe he just wanted to take a break and will be back with TNA at an upcoming ppv.

Jericho was brought back with a HUGE on-air buildup. Maybe because they wanted to be sure he wouldn't have gotten the "Oh neat, Jericho's back" reaction from older fans, and the "who the hell is that guy?" from younger fans.
And as mentioned, Jericho was supposed to be back a couple of times already, while it didn't happen.
About Jeff Hardy's comeback in 2007, it happened with little fanfare and with almost zero Newz Rumourz because there was the general feeling he was going to last some months, before getting burned out and fired again. But if/when Christian will be back, one or two weeks of "Christian is back" would be more than enough IMO.
I can't really compare the soap-opera about Christian's (alleged) comeback with ANY other debut/comeback in WWE history.
Surprise returns by main eventers usually happens out of the blue [Warrior, Cena], regular returns get some hype, depending on the magnitude of the Star.
It makes NO SENSE having Christian's comeback being booked as secret as Cena's and as rumoured as Jericho's. Mainly because Christian is nowhere near the level of either man.
P.S: the "we want Christian" chants probably came from a small section of smart fans. Hardly a general plea to bring Captain Charisma back. During NYR06 there were audible "let's go Masters!" chants... I doubt that meant some fans wanted him to main event a PPV

Read the spoilers for the next two weeks of Smackdown and no Jeff Hardy. No confrontation between Jeff and Matt... no mention of Christian.... no mention of Jeff at No Way Out. I agree with some slow builds but it sounds like Jeff is no where to be seen for two whole weeks. Jeff has had a terrible start to 2009 hasn't he. A crappy run as champ and then off tv for 2 weeks. Maybe he had a wellness violationn no one wanted to make public? If he had a wellness violation, he'd be fired. I'm betting there'll be some pre-tapes inserted into the show. Bingo. He'd be done if he violated the policy again. Matt gets into the Elmination Chamber, Jeff gets in it too. The two slap the tomatoes out of each other, it's vintage WWE.

The last time he was TNA champ was like 4 years ago and he was used sporadically before he went back to the WWE. He also can't be considered a failure because the dude is pretty over right now for redebuting recently. Monty Brown had to leave WWE due to family issues not because he failed. The only one that I will give you is Chris Harris. And wasn't one of Christians last matches for the WWE Title?

I think at least he has to be considered mid to upper card, with possible main events. Re-read that list of titles, and let's find ONE that wasn't a midcard title (or a lower-midcard one). His Tag Team runs with Edge were relevant and groundbreaking, but still midcard. The IC title wasn't what it used to be 10 years earlier when Christian held it. TNA's title is more or less on par with the ECW title, being generous The least said about CW and LH belts, the better. Christian has been a solid midcarder at best as a singles competitor in WWE. His run in TNA will mean squat in WWE for may reasons I don't feel like listing, but you can easily guess... No... They added Jericho to the picture becaue they clearly felt Cena v Christian wasn't good enough as Cena's first feud on RAW. Christian had ONE PPV appearence against Cena and Y2J, then he got drafted and Jericho was the one carrying on with the feud. While Christian quickly sank into the midcard on SD. Yes, there were. But is it enough to earn him a Cena-like surprise comeback and a one-way ticket to Main Event? A place where he never showed to belong thus far?

The WWE did this alot back in the day, it's called a slow build. Why have the Hardys kill each other now when it is going to be one of the key selling points of WM25? It's smart business.

Low to Mid Card??? The guy's a former IC Champ, Tag Champ, Euro Champ, Lightweight Champ, Val Venis held a number of those belts too. So did D'Lo Brown. So did a lot of people who never progressed beyond low-to-mid card status. Success in TNA means absolutely nothing to Vince. Never has, never will. Mid at BEST. Upper? Not even close. As said by Loki, he was the third wheel in that feud, and eventually was written out of it, sent to SD, and sank back down the ladder, never to return. People said the exact same thing about Jericho. The crowd supposedly "wanted" him. He got the same chants. The whole kit and kaboodle. And most people agree that his initial return was lackluster at best. He didn't get nearly the crowd response that everybody thought he would. Many consider his return to largely be a dud, not picking up steam for several months after he came back. I'm not saying he wouldn't be over. But there's a difference between being a midcarder who's over with the crowd and being accepted at a main event level. There's a big difference between the two. If he were to return in (as I suggested) an ECW role, or put into mid-card programs with people like Rey Mysterio, CM Punk, etc. I could see him getting over. But thrusting a guy who some fans would only remember as a mid-card comedy heel and other fans wouldn't remember at all into the main event scene is a recipe for disaster. Remember -- many casual fans couldn't care less about TNA and would know little to nothing of his success there.

Yeah, those we want Christian chants at the Royal Rumble must have been piped in. Jericho got the exact same crowd reactions before he showed up, but his initial return was a complete dud and didn't pick up steam for months. I think you totally misunderstood what I meant by listing those three. All three of them were very successful in TNA, only to be totally repackaged and given no real push in the WWE. Their TNA success had absolutely NO bearing on their WWE runs at all, and I can't see why Christian would be any different. To be honest, I don't remember. I vaguely recall him being in part of some gimmick match where everybody expected him to be buried because it was known that it was his last match. We were all suprised when he wasn't. But I don't recall if it was for a title. That being said, Brian Kendrick was also in a WWE title match in the main event of a PPV. I really doubt anyone considers him a main-eventer.

If you're going to discount Christian's IC title reign, then you must not think Booker T is a main event guy either, because that was his main feud.
Maybe we just have different ideas of what a mid carder, upper midcarder, and main event level guy is. To me Punk and Mysterio are solid upper midcarders to main eventers. So if he should come in to feud with them, then I'd say that puts him in good company and I'd completely agree that that's a good spot for him.
I don't see why he couldn't be put in the main event though, I mean if he's ever going to get there then this would be the time. If Matt and Jeff Hardy can be main eventers, then I don't see why Christian couldn't. If you asked someone before last year about whether the Hardy's would ever be more than mid carders, you would've said no, and look at them now. They are both in main event spots.
Chris Jericho is a good example too. He was a guy that was perenially in the IC range, with the one run as the undisputed champ, and then he came back and has been a great heel champ. He finally got over the hump in my opinion and is now a solid main eventer.
I see the midcard as like Miz, Morrison, Cryme tyme, Kofi, Rhodes, Dibiase, Bouren, Shelton Benjamin, MVP, Finlay, Khali, etc. With the low card being like Funaki, Ryder, Hawkins, Wang Yang, Burchill, Haas etc.
In my eyes, main eventers are like: Jericho, Cena, Orton, HBK, JBL, HHH, Hardy's, Edge, Undertaker, and Batista. I may be forgetting some, but this is off the top of my head.
Then there's another class of guys who are above mid card but not main event, like Punk, Mysterio, Kane, Big Show, Kennedy and others. Guys who could main event a smaller pay per view at this point, but probably shouldn't be in a Wrestlemania main event.
I think Christian probably fits into the mid card but not main event group with Punk, Mysterio, etc. The only reason I have Matt Hardy on the main event list is because of the push that I'm expecting him to get. If it doesn't work out then he would've been on the last list. I'm just trying to say that Christian is not a low card guy, he's someone that has had success in the past and can be a big player in a high card match.

I think that they are just selling Jeff's attack and that he will be back for the PPV to try and get revenge. On Matt but something will come up.
I think that if they do pull an Edge vs Triple H Mainevent at Mania for the WWE title who would be better than Christian to be a special guest ref? Hell get Gangrel back as a timekeeper and Lita as guest Ring Announcer?
