Sadly, I have to say no for the most part. Again, if it's just ass, that's fine so long as it works within the context of the thread, but anything else, no. It's one of those "give an inch, take a mile things" as next people will be wanting to post topless anime girls because that's what *they* consider art, or something.

I want to put a quote in my sig with just the author's name, and without the date how do I do that?
For example how would I show this in the quote box?

I'm not entirely sure that it's possible to have the name without the date.
To my knowledge, the only way you could pull that off would be something like this:
That's about the only solution I can think of.
And that would be accomplished by simply surrounding "Whatshisface wrote: Stuff" with [ quote ] [/ quote] minus those spaces.

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, where people have the name whited out above a quote, that's a board error where the link to the post and author in the tag is no longer relevant or else has been moved, hence the whiting out of the name.
If you just use the 'quote author' tag without the imaginary link, it still doesn't work unfortunately.
Edit: It looks like Proboards' 'quote' function is freaking out at the moment, it posted twice more aside from this from me, had to delete them because there was nothing in them. Funky.

If I put my Ebay auctions in my sig, that's cool right? Yep. As long as you're not selling anything illegal, like bootleg DVD's for example.

Hey guys, I was wondering if somebody could help me out. I was wondering how people sometimes will "hide" a link into other text. For example, someone could post a link to wrestlecrap, but rather than the site address appearing in full it just says Wrestlecrap and if you click on the highlighted word it takes you to the link.
Sorry if that's worded confusingly, but if anybody knows what I'm talking about and wouldn't mind explaining, I'd like to know how to do that.

Copy the URL you want to "hide." Then use the following code (minus the spaces) whatever the text is going to beIt seems pretty simple when it's broken down like that, but it took me a while to get it myself. And now an example of that code in action: WrestleCrapThe demonstration I used is without the spaces in the explanation.

I was just wondering why we have archives here on WrestleCrap rather than retaining all past WWE discussion in the one board for example alongside the current stuff? It's just that anyone who has a particular thread they wish to look at, will bookmark it, only to find that a few months down the line they can no longer see the thread at all. They'll have to dredge through the archives painstakingly trying to find it again, using a search function that, quite honestly, doesn't work.
Just a query.

It's just that anyone who has a particular thread they wish to look at, will bookmark it, only to find that a few months down the line they can no longer see the thread at all. They'll have to dredge through the archives painstakingly trying to find it again, using a search function that, quite honestly, doesn't work. Just a query. Short answer - because it f***s the forums up. Longer answer - There's a lot of quirks to ProBoards and its database/server systems. You've already noticed that the Search function is a bit.... off. Some of the other major problems have been: a) Too many posts in a thread b) Too many threads in a section c) Too many posts per minute/hour in a thread d) Too many posts per minute/hour in a section/subforum e) Too few letters in a subject line f) Too obscure/rare characters in a subject line g) Certain combinations of words in a single page of a thread causing a reference to an imperfect GoogleAd, corrupting the whole page And more. There were certain measures taken to help alleviate these issues. a) This is why we'd cut threads off around 30 pages. Too many threads went over that (it was related to number of posts, not pages btw) and the subforum the threads were in went BOOM and restarted from the last backup. Sometimes the last automated backup was days previous - and that whole subforum lost days of posts and threads. Thankfully, that is not as much of an issue as it was previously since ProBoards beefed up their hardware, software, and firmware. Unfortunately, it can be a problem at times, but we make the most of it now since we increased the number of posts shown per page but still make the cut-off at 30 pages normally. We've had much fewer crashes like this. b) This is why we archive every 6 months or so. Ironically, it helps the search index perform better. And yeah, it's still not great, but not a heck of a lot we can do about that. Some people use the Googlesearch at the bottom of the main page, that works better for them. c) This is most obvious during Live Events, I think pretty much everyone remembers the humongous crashes of threads and occasionally forums during the big PPVs. Thankfully it's not as bad as it used to be since there's little we can do to curb it. Sadly, we had to trade one crash for another since we use all-inclusive threads for PPVs and other Live Events - but that's mostly because we'd much rather have a single thread go down and lose posts than the entire subforum. A thread usually loses minutes-hours, the forum usually loses hours-days. d) Pretty much the same as 'c', except this extremely borks the Search function. This was made most clear when we first started Archiving threads, moving them 20 or more at a time... back then, you could look at the Archives and see half the front page, but from pages 0.5->300 it was just blank. The index totally crashed. e) This was rare, and is now fixed (to my knowledge). The lack of letters/characters in a subject line forced HTML code that closed the page and stopped it from loading, and when the thread appeared in the listing (or on the main page's "Most Recent" area) it would cut off the rest of the forum. f) Certain characters in subject lines used to crash some browsers. Fixed, to the best of my knowledge. I believe it had something to do with the code generated for the link, but don't quote me on that. g) This was the absolute worst one, in my opinion, because we had to selectively alter posts within threads just to get the page to show up right for the majority of posters. People got pissed off because their posts were edited, but there wasn't a heck of a lot else we can do. Fixed, for the vast majority of cases, but USE A FREAKING ADBLOCKER!

I forgot to mention that some issues would arise due to the server itself, though that's no longer an issue. Someone else's forum on the same server as ours would have a massive upswing of activity and the other forums on that server would suffer. Or several at once would have the upswing, etc. This wasn't as common as other issues, which is why it slipped my mind.

Does royalty fall into the politics rule? If you mean the British royal family, no. They're fair game as they aren't politicians or actual rulers. I'm sure there are other royal families in various countries that *are* though, so those would be off-limits.

Hello
First of all i want to say i really like this board regardless of how some of the mods/posters feel about me- i lurked for a while before i joined last year
a couple of questions
1)What is the hierachy of the mods? i notice everyone in green(i already had the explaination for the purple mods) but other boards tend to differentiate by color from mods who are mods of a section, global mods, mods with admin pivileges etc
2)aside from the board admin who has access to personal messages?
3)I notice there is a zero tolence on this board which is good but what if the rudeness is done by a mod? what is the correct way to go about reporting it?
thanks in advance

All the mods are global moderators. Madison is the admin and it says admin below his name despite the same color. 3. PM a mod.
