The ONLY mods are Global Moderators. Gentle lovers, the pink guys (fuchsia) are retired mods that retained the ability to mod if they feel the need. Retired Mods (blue guys) are retired in every sense, they have the same access to anything as a normal user and don't have to worry about the stress anymore, they made a clean break. Then there's the Admins. Madison and myself. Full access to mod rank plus a little extra for when it's needed. Don't really consider this to be above rank of Global Mods tho which is why our names our green like theirs now instead of red like it used to be, we closed ranks years ago. Kash and one of our techy mods (Psy) have access to the tools but not the rank reflecting it in their profiles. Those two took over while I was gone for the last year. All of the others are normal posters like you but earned access to fancy colors that they got to pick out as a show of thanks for donating to a relief fund for the Japan disaster a few years back. officialfan.proboards.com/members?dir=asc&sort=order&view=staffThis list shows who has staff privilege here and who doesn't. Deadpool, Deus (former Admin as well, also Dalek from that list was his alt), and Dinobot are no longer with us but I won't remove their staff listing. Main site contributors have no extra freedoms or accesses than you do just to get that out of the way too.

With that out of the way, how did some of you guys become Mods? I know a few here that didn't start out as Mods so how did you get your positions? I was asked over AIM one night by Madison. Turned out they needed new mods and voted Deadpool myself and Willy Wonka into the position. That's how it works. When new staff are needed we discuss nominations (based on a lot of factors) and weed out names until there's a handful left. Then we vote on who to take in. After that I send a surprise PM to the winners, lie to them about pay and muffins, they usually accept, and that's that. Here's some recent info from a thread a couple months back: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} Honestly what we look for (though sometimes we do the exact opposite just because we wanna): Not overtly showing you want to be staff, though we have picked up a few bossy pants along the way (Psy, Me...). We prefer under the radar types that don't really get themselves out there too much, but we also ask popular sorts who seem to get on with most everyone (Cthulhu...). You haven't caused too many problems (though the warnings list for staff itself isn't exactly clean to be honest). What we do NOT want (although we still do the opposite of it anyways, because we can): Being Off Topic centric with your posts. Everyone already watches this board, we need eyes in WWE, TNA, wRest, Games. People we think invest TOO much in the board. Dude behind the scenes is f***ing insane here. Really I wish I could convey you the daily headaches and explain how cynical this board can turn you as fast as it does. Becoming staff here can completely ruin the experience and joy of the "feel" here. That's why we've lost a few screaming into the night. I don't blame them and have considered it many times. So if you rely too much on this place mentally it's really not a good idea to have the extra stress is my point, it would break you. It goes from being a fun hobby to a chore. Being an asshat etc. Well this is obvious. Many other things. Use common sense here. When we take new mods (only every 2-3 years from here on out is our plan) it's a general nomination system, sucking up not needed as I wasn't personal with any of the names I myself nominated, 2 of which are now green. Then we vote after weighing everything we know about the poster, the times they're typically on, the time zones they live in, their history, what their personal lives are like with school or whatever (we don't want to add more responsibilities to someone with a busy work/school/hobby life with many hands in many stews) and many other factors. Then we vote. Top 2-3 get the nod. A good number of people (not saying who *winks*) were up this time, some really surprising nominations but in the end we only need so many at a time. We weren't even hurting for staff this time around, just wanted to freshen things up and get some more eyes around. And for those of you who think you're too under the radar here to be noticed? That's hogwash, we keep a dossier on every one of you. Or maybe we don't. Sounds like a lot of work. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} And there's no "perfect" poster we're looking for to get the nod to modhood, we need views of all sorts, personalities of all sorts, etc. Opposing viewpoints are a plus and being a "yes man" is not an option, seriously we don't have time for someone who just wants to agree to my dumb ideas all day. This place would be a mess if every thought I had was implemented. It's a true republic behind the scenes here and opinions are half the job. So yeah carry on like normal if you get a PM one day you get it, if not I wouldn't worry about it. There's no benefit to this headache outside of the enclosed space where the mods post. It's not some sort of promotion or even really recognition of being a good poster. It just means we wanted you to join in our hivemind for one of a million miniscule reasons.

Another issue, is when I click on a topic it doesn't bring me to the most recent post but rather a page before it

Question for those that have blocked posters:
Does it make threads odd when there are "holes" in the conversations? Or is the block the greatest thing since deep fried cheese curds?
I ask because there's a gimmick poster or two I wouldn't mind never seeing again but for some strange reason I feel it might "break" the feel of a thread.

After a while, I just stopped noticing any breaks. The block feature is a godsend.

Why don't we have an IRC? Several other forums I'm on have one, and this is larger than all of them.

Does blocking a poster also block any time that poster is quoted in a thread?

Does blocking a poster also block any time that poster is quoted in a thread? Sadly no. The blocked person's post will appear if someone quotes him/her

I tried to find it in the rules section, but I couldn't find it. My friend was wondering if bans are a permanent thing cause he apparently can't even just browse the forum with his current status.

Is it possible to change the question in a thread? I'm doing a playthrough of a game where FAN votes on what happens, and it would make it so much simpler if I didn't need to create a new thread for every question.

Yes, just go to edit thread and on the top of the edit window you can hit remove poll. That button will then turn into add poll and you can enter a new one.

Your signature is a safe place to do it without the mods yelling at ya that you're almost always allowed to use.

Are you ever going to allow us to increase the amounts of posts we can see per page? Other forums allow this. Rather than having to click through 10 plus pages, it'd be cool to see 50 posts per page at least.

With as photoshop and gif happy as this board is that wouldn't really work well without having to further limit what we allow per-post content wise.
