My picks are not jobbers! My entire list is filled with lesser known characters(With the exception of maybe Jaws,The Tall Man,and Patrick Bateman) I know...my list is too....but I have come to the conclusion that that's all they're gonna be in this tourney. Jobbers to the "stars" (Kruger and Jason). I mean Mummy and Candyman? Jason and Freddy are gonna KILL them!

My intent whenever I nominate people for these tournaments isn't really to get someone to "unseat" Krueger and Voorhees. I've come to the conclusion that that's just not gonna happen. But my hope is that at least some people will take an interest in these obscure pictures I've given a nod to. There's the obvious main eventers of these tournaments, but I'm hoping my "guys" are like the workhorses of the tourney, who get by on their moxie rather than their established name value. They're like the Intercontinental Champions of Horror. *shrug*

I wonder, offhandedly, if anyone nominated the Triffids?

Yeah, but Freddy and Jason are the perennial prom King and Queen. No one else has a legit shot at knocking them off, really. Myers takes runner up, and MAYBE Pinhead or Leatherface (if he survives the semifinals) take spot four and five. The other names? Jobber fodder. Lugosi's Dracula might make things interesting for someone, but he'll prolly be the one who takes out Leatherface, LOL! This is a monster tournament. I could easily see Dracula, Godzilla, Kong, Jaws, The Alien, Predator or even the darkhorse The Thing take the guys you mentioned.

I don't think I'd mind Freddy winning. Say what you want about him being the "perennial prom king," but, dammit, he deserves such a spot. He's easily one of the most unique horror baddies out there. And, let's just face it, he's pretty damn entertaining. ("How sweet...dark meat!")
Jason, on the other hand, is really just a glorified version of the cliche'd silent stalker, and he's not even the first--that would be Michael Myers. (And before anyone says it, Leatherface was ANYTHING but a silent stalker...)

I remember watching the movie Weird Science back in the 80s and totally marking out when Michael Berryman showed up. I never did that when Robert Englund appeared in a movie.
I have to go with Pluto.

How can you not mark out with Englund appears on screen??? Still and all, that's a good reason to vote for the other man.

It's only an "argument" when both sides have the potential to be right. You, sir, are just wrong. <-----additional tongue-out smiley for emphasis.

In all seriousness, my point was just that Jason gets far more credit than he's due as the archetypical masked killer who never speaks and can't seem to die. Replace Michael with whoever you want...(although I'm tempted to insist Mike deserves the credit for the modernized image we now have)...as the true originator.

Replace Michael with whoever you want...(although I'm tempted to insist Mike deserves the credit for the modernized image we now have)...as the true originator. I'll say Michael may have been the first such character to gain mainstream prominence. But I've always preferred Jason, anyhow. In addition to seeing the Friday the 13th pictures first, I just generally think of Jason as a more sympathetic hulking murderer. Michael, in his best form (Halloween 1 and 2) is quite simply pure, blankface EVIL in all caps. Jason though, in his best form (say parts 2 through 4), seems more like just a sad/angry revenge murderer. Bad enough the kid got treated like crap by camp counselors, but then they go and kill his mom. Granted, I can't really justify murder, but I could see how audiences would sympathize. And, like I said elsewhere, Friday the 13th Part 2 ushered in a new era of horror franchises. It wasn't until after F13 part 2 became a big hit that we saw Halloween 2 or Texas Chainsaw 2 or even Psycho 2! So I could genuinely see how Jason gets more props than Michael. I hope this drivel made sense, I'm in a hurry. Gotta go to work. See ya!
