Anyone else find that the hype the WWE tries to create about how demonic and dangerous the Elimination chamber is kinda unfruitful?
Personally I just find it a glorified cage match. I think in alot of ways the X-Matchs TNA has more intruiging than pods surrounded a cage.
Just me?

IMO, just you.
Elimination Chamber is still a very innovative cage match, and doesn't have any stupid Vince Russo stips applied. Its two men enter, every few minutes someone comes in, and then last person standing wins. So in essence, its simple, brutal, and most of the time, an awesome spectacle to watch.
The only thing I would change is to NOT put two matches in one night, and D2D should have never existed.

I dont think theres been a GREAT Elimination Chamber match. But Im sure the WWE dropped some serious coin on having that thing built so they need to get their moneys worth out of it

i just think its dumb having 2 elimination chamber matches in one event, it cheapens it, makes it less special.... i think anyway. Plus it reeks of lazy booking...... i think anyway. And because of it there are only 5 matches at no way out, 5 is a crappy number of matches at a ppv.... if you ask me anyway.

It cost the WWE $25'000 to have it produced. Each sheet of glass in it cost $250. It probably costs about $5'000 a year to store. $5k to have it driven to the event. $5'000 to design. So yeah, it'll be around for a good few years to reap its costs back. BTW my figures come from WWE.com

It's really not the cage, it's the wrestlers that sell the match. Much like a regular steel cage or Hell in a Cell. If all six guys are "on", it'll be a great match. If not, well, thanks for the $50 bucks and thanks for watching!

I think the concept of the match is a nice hybrid of a singles version of Survivor Series elimination and a WarGames match. Remember, in kayfabe it was introduced by Eric Bischoff at Survivor Series 2002 as Raw's answer to the Smackdown Hell in a Cell match between Brock and Taker at No Mercy.
But as has been mentioned the match can be as brutal as you like, but you can't get emotionally invested in it unless the right people are booked in it at the right time.
One thing I wonder if they'll ever be brave enough to do is have the reigning champion be eliminated early, so that you have a guaranteed new champion at the end of the match, but the excitement of wondering who it will be. Apparently one of Paul Heyman's ideas to rescue D2D was to have CM Punk eliminate Big Show first with an Annaconda Vice (which Show apparently was in favour of). But all of this was shot down by Vince as he wanted to go with a Big Show-Lashley show down at the end. Unfortunately I think a lot of the people who are champion would be afraid that it kind of buries them a bit if they aren't there at the end, which I can understand in a lot of cases.

I think they need to put someone in who needs time off so they can do an injury angle to put the match over as a potential career ender. It just seems as though everyone comes out of it fine, apart from Triple H in the first match, when RVD did his throat in.

Loved the first one, didn't think much of the other Elimination Chambers i've seen... I also loved it as well, partly because I was there live for it at MSG. The rest of them not so much, especially the godawful one at D2D.

I thought last year's Raw EC was phenomenal.

I don't like the pods but, that is about it. I'd rather have the structure as is (minus the pods) and for the intervals, send someone in from the back but, that is just me.

I have a feeling they may put one more match in at the last minute (hopefully Shelton/MVP for the US Title).

I wouldn't be surprised if Matt and Jeff had a segment prior to the match where Jeff gets hurt, but guts it out and still loses in the EC.

The Chamber's a good spectacle. That's about it. However, it does have an element of brutality in it due to the numerous ways a wrestler can use it. The first Chamber match will always stand out due to Kane throwing Jericho, I believe, though the glass and RVD crushing Trips' trachea with a 5* from the top of a chamber pod.

It's nothing special to me.
Bring in the War Games or a Scaffold match & i'll be happy.

Oh yeah, it's losing its novelty... then again, it's a 6 year old concept and HIAC was pretty overdone by 2004.

I like the Chamber matches but dont like how there is two of them. Its just overkill having two and it would be more special with just the one.
