Yeah, agreed on Lesnar.
Everyone after him was manufactured, and poorly at that.

Even though he sucks and I don't like him, Kozlov is a badass.

Even though he sucks and I don't like him, Kozlov is a badass. Yeah, well, monsters shouldn't lose cleanly. Period.

I didn't see enough of Big Daddy V to judge, his whole look was impressive though. Isn't he acting now?
I agree with those who say Umaga, he isn't massive but he fits the term Monster well and looks the part and backs in up in the ring.

You can't beat original masked Kane. Those close up shots, and Kane's body language. Absolutely marvellous.

the last monsters I 'bought' were umaga, and khali when he first debuted (especially when that one time mysterio springboard drop kicked him and he just bounced off him)

It depends on how they work.
Snitsky I never liked, because he was too lumbering, he was threatening, but he was too slow and lacked intensity. He had a good look, but the talent didn't match up. That's completely different with Mike Knox, who I feel is a better monster now with the beard.
Umaga of course, but that guy is just an awesome talent. And Kozlov, he puts a different spin on the monster, with him being the more technical fighter beating somebody down.

I'm thinking Mike Knox is going to get that Snitsky curse or whatever you want to call it. He'll destroy all of these low-card to mid-card guys then just be buried by everyone else.

I agree with Lesnar. He was pretty much one of the best monsters WWE produced.

I think Lesnar worked because he wasn't a mindless monster who was angry all the time. Brock knew exactly what he was doing when he was in the ring and how to do it. That's what made him so terrifying. He could alternate between being vicious in order to win and and painful out of sheer sadism at will.
It didn't hurt that he started out by just appearing in the ring and immediately beating the living crap out of everybody he saw. No vignettes, no introduction. Just showing up, and destroying all opposition.

Just showing up, and destroying all opposition. Have to agree with this, I really don't think vignettes help a monster at all. I want a monster to come to the ring, kill whatever is in there, and look vicious doing it. I really don't care about a trip he takes to the beach with Funaki. That being said, I've got to put my vote in for Lesnar when he first started out.

I'm buying Mark Henry right now.
The BDV/Mark Henry team, managed by Matt Striker, whipped all kinds of ass. I remember when they put Undertaker in the double torture rack...good times.

This guy, for me Absolutely everything a monster should be. It's just a shame that creative absolutely destroyed the character.

Eh, I could never watch Big Daddy V. I always simply up and left the TV while he was on, because I quite literally thought he was gross to look at. He reminded me of the third Sister of Fate near the end of the God of War 2 video game with all the strings and tentacles who you fight as the second-to-last boss. It was like Snitsky during his yellow teeth phase; there's a fine line between intimidating ugly and just plain silly/disgusting ugly.
However, while he's not completely a monster, per se, one guy who I think is really successful at coming off as intimidating and scary (in the right way) is Mike Knox. Seriously, if I met a guy like his character in a dark alley, I'd probably fall to ground quivering and wetting myself; just this big, hairy, long-bearded guy who doesn't give a damn about his appearance, and likes to hurt and beat people up for (by his own admission!) no good reason whatsoever. It's that kind of scary simplicity that I think really works to sell him as an intimidating persona.

I like Knox too and hope that he doesnt get the Kozlov treatement of being able to beat jobbers for like a year before he gets anything to actually do.
