Really a meh 'Mania, IMO. Taker/HBK was amazing and awe inspiring but, that was the high point. Steamboat looked great and MITB wasn't bad but, the rest was just there.

OK, so here is my a crash review of the show, having watched it live a little drunk and with a group of friends, I watched it again earlier sober and alone; Money in the Bank; Good call for the opener, I personally would have gone with Matt/Jeff to mirror Bret/Owen but this worked too. Some really nice spots (Kofi mainly) but also some pretty bad botches drag down the overall quality. I think Punk needs to turn heel to justify his win, as losing the title shot would just devalue the concept of the match imo. I would rank this fourth in terms of all the MiTBs, only better than the one at WM 22, but it was still a good match and got the crowd hot. Rating: *** 1/2Kid Rock/Miss Wrstlemania; complete waste of time re; Kid Rock. Why this couldn't have been on the pre show instead of the Tag match I'll never know. Match itself was just a big clustersnork, although they will get more mileage out of Santino winning than any other diva could have Rating: 1/2* - for Santino Jericho/Legends; Two words; Ricky Steamboat. My god. Snuka and Piper's involvement was mercifully short, but Steamboat really stole the show. He had me marking out like a kid again, and that's why I'm giving this match a higher rating than it technically deserves; it entertained me a lot. The Mickey Rourke stuff was crap but whatever, Steamboat is king. A 1/4 of a star added for Piper's dirty mouth as well ;D Rating: ***1/2Hardy/Hardy; The spots were great, but this was basically just spot, walk around, spot, walk around. I think they should have been given more time but of course not possible. Even five more minutes of some nice wrestling sequences and this match is an almost classic. Rating: ***Rey/JBL; It was quick, that's all I can say. No rating Taker/Shawn; Holy jesus, I can't add anything that hasn't already been said. Phenomenal. I'd give it the full compliment but there were a few sloppy moves and a lot of (probably justified) stalling. But easily the best match in the WWE in the last three to four years. Rating: ****3/4Cena/Edge/Show; Loved the entrance! And the match itself was a lot better than I thought it would be. Not as good as Benoit/HHH/HBK or even Orton/Cena/HHH but still a good triple threat match. Cena winning doesn't bother me either, I just hope that they can find some fresh challengers for him once his program with Edge is finished. Rating: ***1/4Triple H/Orton; O dear. Definition of anti climatic. The match was technically sound, but it lacked the emotion the awesome build up warranted. The ending was horrible and just overall 'meh' to me. Not good for the biggest match of the year. Rating: **3/4Overall, nothing apart from Divas and JBL/Rey, was outwardly BAD, but all the other matches save Taker/Shawn were above average or just about at best. And really, Wrestlemania shouldn't be just above average. Overall show rating: ***1/2

Another random stat.
Finlay tied the record of Shawn Michaels by appearing in the opening match at three consecutive Wrestlemania's.

I think it's credit to Cena, Edge and Show that they were able to have a good bout that also got the crowd going again after Taker-HBK. Lots of hard work there.
I think Austin's rowdy 'final bow' was more responsible for the drain on the heat for the main event. That and the fact the match suffered dramatically.
