I like all the the Friday the 13th movies but this one ranks pretty low for me. Mainly because more time is spent on a cruise ship than in New York. I heard the directors commentary and they had some big plans for Jason stalking around New York but the studio pulled the plug on all those ideas, deciding to make this movie on the cheap instead. I believe he mentioned something about Jason and the Empire State Building. If he died falling off of it, that would have been a lot better than melting in a sewer. And for any New Yorkers out there, do your sewers really fill with toxic waste every night that can melt skin right off the bone? Like I said, I like this movie but it's hardly my favorite Friday. Amazing that Paramount used to act quite ashamed to be putting out Friday the 13th movies, despite the fact they made millions for the studio. So they decided to sabotage their biggest franchise by slashing the budget and binding the creative hands of the filmmakers. Smart move, Paramount. Paramount has never been known for their genius........which is why Viacom was able to buy them off.

This movie irritates me to no end. Least of which is the Crystal Lake actually being Crystal Harbor of Crystal Inlet or whatever the Hell they made it to shoe horn the plot in. The Jason face is pretty bad but the outfit is terrible as well, just a soggy jump suit, such a bring down from VII. All that "Nightmare on Elmstreet" vision crap as well, what the Hell man, were they so desperate to pad the time that they just tossed in another random movie script? And really, if they know the budget was going to be 28bucks and couldn't really film in NY they shouldn't have bothered to try. Jason on a boat works good enough, if they had saved they NY budget to make the boat parts better it might have been a better film for it. Bleh, I like the Friday series a lot, but this and Jason goes to Hell tie as my most hated of them. I think this movie tried alot of things and alot of them were shot down by Paramount.

Note about Kane Hodder: He works with child burn centers. Helluva dude. Well, that is nice to know. And I believe he's the only man to play Jason more than once. Actually, I've seen alot of the films that inducted here. And I've seen all but 1 Friday the 13th film, and that's the last one. The reboot of the series. Yeah, I have no life. I remember years ago as a teenager I missed out on a raging party so that I could sit in front of my small shitty tv, with my even shittier VCR, watching even shittier slasher flicks that I rented at the local store. One of the parties I did get talked into going to (this was back in the day before Cell Phones, and half of the crowd had CB Radios), they had the good sense to rent both The Driller Killer and The Toolbox Murders. And I believe we also watched Happy Birthday to Me. Talk about a trifecta of shitty movies ... And oh, Monster Crap Guru, I have a challenge for you. I've seen both these movies, but not back to back, and I think you should view them as so and give us a review ... a double feature, so to speak. You start out with the much superior Ninja Cheerleaders, and follow it up with one of the worst movies I've ever seen, Cheerleader Ninjas. I had the misfortune of seeing Cheerleader Ninjas years ago. My friend Jamie and I had gone to the video store in his neighborhood so we could rent some movies. I walked past the cover of this film and burst into laughter with how silly it looked. It had Kira Reed on the cover, striking a stupid looking pose. So of course my friend Jamie comes back and rents the smurfing thing ... Oh the humanity ... I saw Ninja Cheerleaders the other night as it came on Showtime after an MMA event and I was too lazy to turn the channel. I used it as background noise while I leveled one of my toons in WOW. It wasn't horrible by any means, but I'm not sure if you can take the double feature. So as Sandman Simms said to Bill Cosby on The Cosby Show ... Challenge ....

"shouldn't have bothered to try" Maybe they shouldn't have done Big Boss , Chainsaw Massacre or Fistful of $ either......those were certainly not high budget either

I can't ever read the title of this movie without imagining Jason going around and touring New York with the Muppets.
Holy crap, now I want to see that become a movie.

Even Jason himself doesn't have much to say about Part 8.

Even Jason himself doesn't have much to say about Part 8. Or Jason is confused as to how the hell he got himself onto this show. "Must........resist..........killing this black guy.........."

I'll wait)? Ninja Cheerleaders actually wasn't that bad. Ninja Cheerleaders blew away what had been the worst movie my bud had rented before, a little pic called Mardi Gras for the Devil. He said as he was renting it, "It's got Micheal Ironside in it. It can't be bad, right?" We both found out that day that there was something severely wrong with his logic.

The movie supporsedly doesnt have monsters in it so I will not be inducting that movie.

I'd still watch this movie over and over again. I can think of far worse and less enjoyable horror. Dont think it deserves to be inducted but anyways...

I do induct the so bad, its good films as well as the so bad, they are bad. If I didnt, I would go crazy. You have to admit that Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan is a so bad, its good film. I think very few people on this board and the other message board absolutely hate this film, but they at least admit it is bad in an enjoyable way.
