Today I 'watched' raw and found for the first time in a long time I just skipped basically everything, so sick of the current programming.. get Shane off the tv for gods sake, its tired and uninspiring booking, he isnt a wrestler! I don't mind Legacy however with pretty much the entire RAW revolving around it its just too much to stomach.. would love to see some different talent showcased to keep me interested..
Smackdown! on the other hand is looking great and has me excited to watch the product.

RAW would have if it weren't for Hardy,Kofi,Miz and MVP all contending for the void left by Cena and Trips But they aren't filling the void though. The void is still there not really filled by anything while those you mentioned are still in 3-4 minute midcard matches

I know what you mean, I'd rather watch stuff from like 88-2002 over and over again rather than what's on now. I realized the other day that the only wrestlers I enjoy today are the guys who were around in the attitude era and before. I pretty much watch just for HBK, Undertaker, Hardys, and a few others. HHH has bored me for a long while. None of the new guys have really entertained me, other than possibly CM Punk and Orton.
I think it's just burn out from being a fan really. I started watching back when I was like 3, in 1991, and it was pretty much just watching tapes that my dad would rent me at blockbuster, or seeing them when they came to Portland. So it's been like 18 years now of me watching wrestling, and I can honestly say that I'm not nearly as into it anymore.
Granted I'm no longer who they're marketing the show towards, but I still would love to be entertained. I tend to watch Raw every week because I'm in college and go out Friday night as opposed to watch Smackdown, and I just forget about ECW. The few times I've caught ECW though, it hasn't been bad. I like the emphasis on more wrestling than storylines.
I would rather talk about and watch the stuff of Hogan/Warrior/Flair/Hart/Taker/Michaels/Austin/Rock, rather than any of the new stuff. I feel like I'm still interested in wrestling, just not what is going on right now.

Yes. It jumped for me when Vince started calling wrestlers 'superstars' and insisted on calling different programs (be it current WWE or past federations) "brands". I can't remember what the interview was but he kept calling old ECW "that particular brand" and how "that brand operated differently" than WWE. It was then that I realized that the man has lost his mind. I've been steadily losing respect for him ever since, and since he's such an integral part of WWE I can't help but like WWE a little less because of him.

WWE was right on the edge of jumping the shark for me until they did the draft this year. WM 25 sucked but Smackdown and ECW are still looking stellar. Raw...between Cena, HHH, Orton and Legacy, and Batista there just isn't enough time to build up mid-carders to a main event level. Oh yeah, they also have Big Show and Hornswaggle. Fail.
Smackdown though has lots of fresh and exciting talent. Morrison, Jeff Hardy, Shelton, Rey, Punk, and to then throw in Undertaker, Jericho, and Edge. Awesome.
The same for ECW. Swagger is young but getting better. Christian is always entertaining. Even Bourne is fun to watch as is Kidd. I do miss Boogeyman though. The only downside with ECW is Mark Henry and Finlay (because he's still a face).
TNA, though, jumped the shark when MEM became the N.W.O part 2. Nash is old, Steiner is old, Sting is ancient, Mick Foley...is insane and old. It's just boring and stale and stupid.

WWE to me is in an odd position of not being bad enough to warrant changing the channel, but not really exciting enough to warrant heavy attention. Its just sorta... there. Which is a bit of a shame because even if the product was indeed actively bad, at least then there would be an eventualy impetus to change. The company now is not doing as well as the boom era, but is doing well enough thanks to DVDs, international tours, etc to not have to make heavy change to programming.
I suppose that's why TNA also has an appeal to me right now. Does it go for stupid stuff on occasion? Most certainly, but I suppose on some level I'd rather watch TNA constantly shoot for something new and fail a reasonable amount, than see WWE constantly shoot for something familar and succeed.
But your mileage may vary.

I view WWE as more or less the McDonald's of pro-wrestling. It's where you go for a quick easy wrestling fix basically quantity over quality.

I have said many times, wrestling has an expiration date. Eventually, somewhere in your 20's, you will become tired of watching the same stuff being rehashed by different characters. It happened to me in 2001. The only reason I watched in 2002 was for Hogan's return. I eventually stopped and haven't watched since (closing in on 7 years now). I was a fan since 86 and completely stopped in 02 due to sheer boredom. I still love discussing the wrestling I grew up on, which is why I am here, but I have no interest in watching the current product. Wrestling now to me would be like if All in the Family kept running continuously and every 5 years a new actor played Archie Bunker. Eventually, those who saw the original would have no interest in the rehash. Those who saw the rehash years later would become bored of the next rehash, and so on. I have no interest in watching a new guy play Bruno/Hogan/Austin/Rock's character. Let the new fans enjoy Cena. It is meant for them, not for me. It will happen to everyone. If someone passionately watches the WWF/E and wrestling in general continuously for 30+ years.....well, I don't know what to say. They would be dedicated. I have been watching since the time of The Wrestling Classic. So whatg are we looking at 26 years or so. I still get into the product and while I don't mark nearly like I used to, Being in Houston for Taker/HBK. I marked like a 12 year old girl for Jef Hardy. I just don't take it seriously. I do think ECW is the best wrestling show on TV. I doubt that I will ever quit watching wrestling.

WWE jumps the shark every couple of years, and then it gets really good again and you forget it was ever stupid and a complete waste of your valuable time, and then it jumps the shark again and you swear you're never gonna waste another minute on this crapola, and then one of your favorites comes back from semi-retirement, hiatus, whatever...
Wrestling is basically a "just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in" thing for me. I stop watching every now and then, then I start, then I stop. Meh. It's not like a TV show with a five-year run or something, where jumping the shark means it can never reinvent itself again.

Nah. The shark got drafted to RAW, the Fonz got drafted to SD Trips being the shark and Jericho being Fonzie. ....you know, with that nose of his, Trips could play a convincing shark, and Jericho as the Fonz has to happen! EH!

Didn't they always call wrestlers "superstars"?

I think everyone should probably understand if you are a long term wrestling fan you will see similar storylines get redone several times. There are really only so many different types of bookings you can do.
That doesn't mean that the new guys can't be as good or even better than the guys who came before them though.
I think sometimes it's best to step back and think about what you want in a wrestling program more so than just going insane bitching about everything little thing. I've personally been a fan my entire life and I'm 28, I still think it's fun and it's something I couldn't imagine not being a part of my life in some way or another.
Yes the WWE does things I don't enjoy but they have enough wrestlers who I do like to keep me watching their product.

It's gotten to the point I watch out of habit.....not because I actually care about what is going on.
It's not interesting or surprising to me anymore. I feel the storylines are forced and the product doesn't seem edgy like it did when I was younger. For them to actually get my attention....shock value if you will....they'd have to do something way over the top that prob couldn't be shown on tv. And even then....I'd quit caring in a few minutes.

One of the issues with that is half the audience would eat up the shock value and love it while the other half would talk about how it's intelligence insulting and shouldn't be part of wrestling.

If it's not live I normally fast forward through alot of stuff.
Live I will half pay attention to it, while spending my time posting in the live threads here, laptopping etc.
However, I have no problem chucking in a VHS from years gone by watching it from start to finish.
I'm not captivated by current wrestling, I think its because the classic videos and such like bring back good memories or fond times for me related to the business so that is why I can always watch those events with full attention. The current product just has a feeling of "Meh" ness (though I got really into WM25).

Invasion Angle - I stopped caring about wrestling when WCW folded into WWF.
I tried watching again around the time of the Benoit incident, but couldn't get past how demeaning the Divas were. Bra & Panties matches? No thank you.
I still can't watch WWE and lost my taste for TNA around the time of the Main Event Mafia storyline (I can't pinpoint why).
Now I just watch Shimmer & Chikara. For the great wrestling, fresh/hilarious stories and characters and because they make it fun again.

As far as title credibility and thought out storylines? Pro wrestling jumped the shark for me personally all the way back in 1999.
That was the last time wrestling was consistently interesting on a month to month basis when you would crawl to see what was going on Monday night.
Now, let's look back at the decade of the 2000's. Here is how I feel about the past 10 years.
2000-2003: The championships were nearly all dead to me at this point but there was still enough to keep me popping in blank tapes to record. What I looked foward to on Monday nights was seeing RVD. I hadn't seen any of his ECW stuff except highlights and wanted to see him in WWF/WCW for years so he was fresh to me at this point.
2004: Started out great but it all went completely to **** when Benoit and Guerrero lost their titles to Orton and Bradshaw in a span of 2 months. Orton will NEVER be above tv title contender by my standards and JBL was a tag team wrestler who hadn't done **** for the past year and a half. Both are a$$holes anyway.
2005-2009: Completely zoned out of watching the weekly events. Couldn't tell you off the top of my head the choronology of the championships from 2005-now. The only thing I will watch from the mid to late 2000's is Wrestlemania and the Royal Rumble. Wrestlemania 20-25 has been a consistent mediocre performance to me. Each year they have a great match, a pretty good match and alot of stuff I can't remember which Mania it happened at.
The WWE started jumping the shark in 2002 when they decided to make TWO world champions.
Also. Ive kept a running count and believe it or not I have randomly tuned into Raw 12 times in the past 4 1/2 years and every freaking time they have had some dumass divas out there wasting time.
WWE completely crashed and burned and wound up in the **** house when they brought back ECW and a THIRD!!!! World title. Now it's represented by a bunch of mid to upper midcard jackasses who peaked too early.
