You know with all the negativity for the newer guys brought up to the roster lately, have any guys who get local wrestling, (not really indies since they stay in one place and just learn) know if they're really holding anything back, or if Creative is really screwing them over?
I remember a lot of praise for the Prototype. I hear a lot of good things from some of these guys from ovw, and once they're in wwe, everyone hates them. I read a report on upw in soc (where Cena originally started before ovw) and I read some interesting things about Chris Masters. I think someone said they saw Gene Snitsky's work in some Pennsylvania promotion, how was he?
In other words, did these guys always "suck" (as most people here claim they do) or the wwe somehow neuter them?

they did Shooting star presses, 650s, Hyper proton frog splashes and rainbow piledrivers so WWE killed them.... Actually I don't know. I thought cena was great as a heel but sucks as a face. I don't totally mind Snitsky or Masters. Masters annoys me more because he has such a lame finisher.

I heard Cena was a good wrestler until he showed up in WWE

It could be that the talent they were around was not that great, and they were just better than bad competition.

Prototype was awesome. I got to see 3 OVW shows with him,and Batista, and i was very impressed by both of them. I dont think Cena is being used right for the skills he really has

the thing with Cena is that his charecter is supposed to be street and tough so he throws punches, kicks and all that because of the image he is supposed to have. I have seen stuff of him in UPW and OVW and he was a pretty good wrestler(even look at his debut with Kurt Angle on Smackdown in 2002), but since taking the rapper gimmick his style is changed, like Michael Cole called it, a pound and ground style.
this is basically what they did with Steve Austin as he became a main eventer also, with him doing his mounted punches, stomping a mudhole, etc. But we knew he could wrestle because he showed us in WCW and on occasion in the WWF when necessary. The same is true with Cena, but not as many people have seen it because UPW and OVW arent widely viewed as WCW was.
plus just look at his new music video from Raw, he showed more wrestling holds in that then he has in the last 2 years! that was a good Boston Crab!

It may only be a Full Nelson, but that's how the old-school fans got their kicks. Hey, the most popular wrestler of all time only uses a Leg Drop.

So far all i've seen from masters (other then the masterlock) is alot of drop-elbows. Mabye I'm watching different matches then you all, but I cant honestly remember him doing a wrestling move yet.

It's not that full nelson doesn't look effective, but it's like trying to get people excited about Duck Hunt when Halo 2 is out.
It just can't compare to something like the crippler crossface, mexican surfboard, sharpshooter, or the walls of jericho (Done right anyway).
There are literally dozens and dozens of different submission moves out there, and of all of those, they choose a full nelson?
And yes, the Prototype John Cena used to be a very solid wrestler. He had a considerable following on a wrestling board that I used to frequent. That was many years ago though.

I saw few matches of Chris Masters in UPW as Big Chris. He used Pump Iron Cross which is a crucifix powerbomb. He blew in the ring there as well.

Chris Masters always sucked from what I heard. I don't remember who it was, but someone wrote an article about him sucking even back in OVW.

I saw a Chris Masters dark match that was pretty good. Masters gets too much flak from the online crowd though. They were bashing him before they even saw him wrestle.

I would mark out if he did a dragon suplex, even if he blew in the ring. But he would probably botch the move.

I dunno, probably harder than a german suplex to do in a real situation, but judging by the way he can pick up and throw people around, I'd say with proper help from the other guy, he could probalby pull off a dragon suplex. (You'd think he'd at least bust out a full nelson slam after they've passed out).

i have some tapes of WXW and snitsky was pretty damn good. I have a ladder match he was in and it was much better quality than what he is now...
and BTW he wasnt always the twin tackles, he went by his real name Gene Snisky for the last year or so
