slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/2005/08/28/1191678.htmlWhile WWE's top superstars were Summerslammin', there was a big buzz outside of the ring.
WWE sources say WWE is prepared to bring back ECW right after next year's Wrestlemania in Chicago.
And we're not talking about OneNight Stand 2. WWE, apparently, has talked about putting the promotion on its own -- keeping the integrity of ECW, small venues and all.
So let the chanting begin ... EC-Dub, EC, Dub, EC, Dub.
Really, this is huge news if WWE follows through and brings back ECW. I still say One Night Stand is one of WWE's best pay-per-views -- ever. Thoughts?

It would be cool if they did do it, the only problem is that this is the 4,708,019 time that ECW is going to come back with its own show.

Yeah I'm not holding my breathe for an ECW comeback. As much as I would love it, its not going to happen

Vince won't be able to help himself. IF ECW is set up a third brand then within two months they'll either have it as part of a crappy Invasion-reduex or they'll just stick all the guys who can't 'get a game' on either Raw or Smackdown on there.

It'll never work if they put it in small venues. The legend of ECW has grown beyond wrestling in sports bars and run-down armories.

We already have a new ECW, and it is named OVW. Just give it some time.

it is plausible only in the fact that corporate wwe has to findnew avenues for profit... but it is unlikely because vince wouldn't know how to market to that audience and if he did it would create competition for wwe.. and being vince he would f*** with it.
what i think is more likely that the wwe get in on the ultimate fighter by starting its own ufc styled fed.

Bad idea. I wouldn't really be interested at all in this.

And who would be the the promotion's mainstays? The Dudleys are gone, Raven, Shane Douglas, Jerry Lynn, Sabu and Rhino (Last ECW Champ) work for the competition so who would be the the big stars of the "new" ECW other than RVD and Tommy Dreamer?

After all, calling something "Ohio Valley" isn't exactly a marketing goldmine. It's not supposed to be marketed outside Ohio, because it's a minor league developmental promotion/training facility. The name works for what it is. I also get the feeling from reports of OVW's recent shows that Heyman-booked OVW will be better than ECW, largely because of a distinct lack of garbage. He's not hindered by ECW's reputation, workers, fans and style, he can just go out and book strong, entertaining shows. It's a better use for Heyman than ressurecting an ECW that will be a commercial disaster.

It's going to be the new name of OVW, hell Heyman's booking with Tommy giving input, and the shows have been top notch, why not put some OVW guys on nationwide TV before they debut on WWE TV..

But am I the only one that thinks the Legend of ECW has vastly outgrown what ECW ever was? Don't take this the wrong way, I loved old ECW, but come on. Was it really the best thing ever on God's Green Earth?

It won't happen. If it was gonna happen as a result of anything, it'd be strong PPV buyrates and dvd sales. The dvd sales are good, and the buyrates decent, but not enough to bring it back. And frankly, I wouldn't want it back
