I agree with theHebnos the god of screwjobs, you should have at least given a good pick of her under the bad ones you posted. thats just being fair and balanced. That makes no sense! Fine, lets see if I can't make this clearer. Oh what a pleasant looking lady. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Anyone can look good when they can choose the time and place they are photographed, but real beauty comes from looking good even when the papirazzi finds you shopping for groceries or hungover.

That's not fair because you picked one picture of a nice looking girl and another of the Crypt Keeper.
It's gotta be the same person in both pictures.......
Oh...wait...

see, while I kinda agree with your point, your last sentence totally kills my support of you, because there is NO person that looks great 100% of the time.

I get the feeling that she's 100% gimmick. I'd love to be proven wrong though. there's her in Japan performing poker face on the piano(sorry, I stole this vid from someone else's thread). Wow, pretty impressive range. I respect her more now, even if I'm not that familiar with most of her work.

Everytime I hear one of her songs, it makes all the sadder John Lennon was shot in the back six times. That's a bit snobbish, don't you think? Also, do we always have to start weeping for deceased legends every time we hear new music we don't like? It doesn't make any sense.

Everything since then is terrible, though.

I didn't mean it as in I don't buy that she's talented, she definitely is. I just wonder if she really is as eccentric as she's claiming in interviews or if she's just acting this way because she knows people will cling to it.

That accoustic version of Pokerface is very good. I'd actually be interested in her if her music was like this, instead of that crappy stuff she's coming out with at the moment.

I think both have a place. I'd like to see her broaden her range as far as singles go. That being said, that might be tough to do in concert.

But hey, gave me an excuse to post a video.that's always fun That accoustic version of Pokerface is very good. I'd actually be interested in her if her music was like this, instead of that crappy stuff she's coming out with at the moment. But would she even be noticed if she played like that? How many interchangeable white girls who sing and play piano are there? Her current style got her noticed, and I wouldn't be surprised if her future music switches to a more jazz-esque style.

IE, they still look pleasant when all the glitz is taken away. If there still is a semblance of beauty when in normal society. For example, has Monica Bellucci's ever had a bad photo taken? Or Keira Knightley, sures shes a bit skinnier than she should be, but her face looks beautiful with or without makeup. As opposed to Gaga or Winehouse who need jars of makeup and mega wigs to be deemed attractive.

Her songs are catchy and I like the fact she seems a bit mental.
A bit of mystery is never a bad thing in music and compared to the faceless drones that win X Factor and American Idol at least she is a bit different.
Nice Booty too.

I'm not particularly thrilled with music like hers ruling the charts these days, but as a musician, it's hard to knock someone for being successful. I don't see her having a lengthy career on top. Agreed 110%. I'm also a musician and, although I find her music very poorly done ("Just Dance" excepted, that's not too bad a song) she's selling more records than I am. I do think that her image is very "cliched artist" and don't think she'll have a career past 2010. I guess we'll see.

I don't think her songs are that bad, I've heard a lot worse. I just don't like how the radio shoves them down my throat when I'm at work. That being said Just Dance is probably up there for song of the year, its very catchy. what year 2008?

The OP didn't understand her popularity, so far, to defend it, the best one has come up with is "she's hot". That's far more snobbish and superficial and totally unrelated to music than me wishing Lennon were not murdered.

I've read a lot of responses actually praising the music as well as her appearance in the thread. Also, I wish Lennon was still alive too. I just find the "I wish so-and-so was still around so I wouldn't have to listen to this current crap" thing to be childish.

I dont find myself liking her but I guess her appeal is that she is somebody with a character that stands out and is a "fun" person to see perform.

I guess because people like it. It's catchy, it's fun, she can sing and she's got an eye-catching and interesting style. Seems about right to catch on to me. i second that!! I love her individuality and quirky outfits and she actually sings( no lip synching) she upfront and honest and loves her fans! PLus she makes songs with the likes of Kanye West and marilyn Manson...who else would do that?
