Wouldn't surprise me if the above was true. Very interesting read. Shows that if you piss Vince off enough and attempt to do something to damage his company he can hold a hell of a grudge. Makes sense. WWE isn't just his job, it's his life's work, and Randy damn near killed it. I feel the spiel at the end was unneccessary, it makes it seem like Vince WANTS people to have bad lives. It's not like Nash and Hogan were hurting for money when they came back, same with Steiner. Yeah, but they're the exceptions, not the norm. In '02, I think the nWo was just looking for the TV payday, since Nash and especially Hogan were just fine financially. But a ton of these other guys? Not doing quite so well.

True, but i'm pretty sure that most aren't just "waiting for the call" as that article put it.

True, but i'm pretty sure that most aren't just "waiting for the call" as that article put it. Very true. Bill Eadie (Demolition Ax) was speaking at a Legends of Wrestling convention two years ago, and he addressed questions from fans who brought up how mcuh Demolition gets ignored these days, despite being the most dominant WWF tag team of their era. Eadie replied that it would be great if Demolition got more respect and got inducted into the Hall of Fame. However, he said that if that day never comes, he's fine with it. Why? Because he's happy, healthy, and secure in his current careeer (as a teacher for at-risk kids and juvenile offenders). Ax is one guy who is not desperate for cash, and not calling Vince for job offers. Same for Demolition Smash (who runs his own business now). And I'm sure there are plenty of others.

Thanks for that post, tmc1982.
I've never believed the Stephanie/Savage crap. I mean, cripes...Vince himself proposed a storyline where he was having sex with Stephanie. If Randy had done that to Steph in real life, the authorities would've been brought in, there would've been a loud and awful trial, and Randy Savage's very name and face would've been COMPLETELY expunged from wrestling history and probably pop culture.
That Slim Jim history makes so much more sense. Vinec hates Randy because of a rather petty business situation, and will bear screwing the fans out of the enjoyment and himself out of any money he could still make off the Macho Man.

A very in-depth presumption concerning the Macho Man/Vince fall out in relation to Slim Jim's on imdb: Out of all the Vince/Macho Man theories, this one makes the most sense. Great read.

Makes sense but how long did Slim Jim and Vince sever ties for because I know they were a sponsor during the Attitude era with those commercials where the Slim Jim would yell "EAT ME!" (and those still featured Savage's voice saying "SNAP IN TO A SLIM JIM!")

So my question is, do any of you respect Savage more than before assuming that story is true?

One theory Jerry Jarrett had was that Vince and Randy would butt heads a lot creatively, which goes back to Vince not thinking Randy had it in him anymore.
According to Lanny Poffo, Randy Savage was really hurt by the assumption that Randy didn't have it in him anymore, and Randy is a very proud man, and one of the reasons he may've screwed WWE out of the slim jim deal was out of being hurt by Vince not thinking he had it in him anymore. Lanny said Randy loved the WWE and Vince McMahon, but I guess the situation has been messed up since then.
You know, if Vince and Randy actually sat down and talked everything over, it would probably come up as a misunderstanding. Vince and Randy both felt betrayed by the other. Both Vince and Randy were doing what they thought was right, and what they thought was right for the business.
I'm not a big fan of the assumption of evil on Vince's part, but it's true that they put in a lot of no compete clauses in contracts. That's why Honky Tonk Man is rarely seen on WWE television. He's been asked to come back on numerous occasions, because he's still a big potential draw and a big name, but Honky normally turns the offers down due to the no compete clause. Plus, he's still been making a good living off of the independents since 1991. He doesn't need tv time. He was so strong back in the late 80s, that he got all the tv time he needed, and he's still a major star to this very day.
Some guys do need the money, because wrestling is all they know. Jimmy Snuka just can't work at McDonalds, and like, I think Snuka is going to end up being on WWE tv a lot more now that Deuce is going to get a push I think. Because, from what I understand, Snuka is a guy who does need the money.

I dont think it was the Slim Jim thing because I remember Bam Bam doing Slim Jim ads after Savage left for WCW and it was a short time later when Slim Jim went to WCW
regardless it CERTAINLY isn't the Stephanie thing as that is just ridiculous
