Black, Dragon, Strong, or Ace Steel would be nice. Too bad Fuji wins tomorrow night

Honestly...Nigel can hold the belt for as long as he wants. I actually second this. Consider it thirded. And most people's apathy toward Nigel as champ stems from him almost exausting challengers. I say he beats Joe's record by about a month (which would draw MASSIVE heat, especially if he brings it up repeatedly), THEN drops the strap to let's say Danielson. Danielson has a transitional reign and then passes it to Tyler Black. And I'd be completly satisfied.

As a Dragon mark, I'd love it to be him, but I still think it'll be Tyler next.
Though I agree with Andy's theory, as I'm apparently the only Roddy mark in Canada.

Right place:
The potential that Nigel may be the longest reigning Champion literally makes me almost want to vomit.

As long as it's not Low Ki, Xavier, Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, CM Punk, James Gibson, Bryan Danielson, Homicide, or Takeshi Morishima, I don't care who it is.
See what I'm getting at here? I'm right, and you know it.
Personally, I'd like Paul London or Tyler Black. But, I'll take anyone.

I want Nigel to keep it a little longer.
It's a tough one, but my two choices would be the top guys in ROH under him. Bryan Danielson or Jimmy Jacobs (well, top heel, not really win loss record). Jacobs has the best heat in the company, and Dragon is the most popular guy.

I think the thing that people forget about Nigel is that gaining the belt has been a long time coming. He's worked very, very hard to make himself into what he is today, and regardless of whether or not he's exhausted all of his opponents, he still manages to have one of the best matches of the night.
So hey, whoever wins it off him, cool. But as far as I'm concerned, Nigel as Champ 4 Life.

I've stopped paying attention to ROH ever since Nigel became champion. I've watched a few video wires and I'm not a big fan of the new direction, lumberjacks and virgins and such, but I am a Tyler Black mark.

Here's what I would do. And I've been saying this for months.
This idea is all about killing a few birds with one stone. First: get the belt off of Nigel. The main problem with Nigel's reign is that it hasn't been exciting. I equate it to the CM Punk/Christopher Daniel's hour long draw: yeah they could go an hour, yeah it was a decent match...it just wasn't that exciting. And what ROH needs right now is excitment, not fan apathy.
Now to start this I would have 'fuji win the belt off of Nigel tomorrow night. Then leave the company. He goes back to Japan with the belt and says that ROH can't pay him enough to come back as he makes more money in Japan as the ROH champion than he does in the States being the ROH champion. This also plays into ROH's "money problems." Marufuji defends the belt in Japan under ROH sanction, but he doesn't return to the states, and ROH doesn't want to break the title lineage because of the damage that would be done.
So ROH starts to send guys over to Japan, and NOAH to challenge Marufuji but they keep getting denied. Which brings me to the second bird to be killed: the first two time champion. After Marufuji's been the champ a couple of months Bryan Danielson finally works his way up into contention in both NOAH's eyes (to grant him a match) and ROH eyes (as no. 1 contender) to face Marufuji in Japan for the belt. Danielson wins, thus bringing the belt back to the States (making him a hero of sorts) and becoming the first two time champion.
Then on the WrestleMania weekend of shows, the main event of the final day is Tyler Black (who up to this point has been fueding with Jimmy Jacobs) FINALLY besting Dragon for the belt.
That's how I would do it.

Bryan Danielson in a random title match here or there is fine, but he is beyond the point where he needs to be the champion.

He's not going to do anything with the title, he's just going to come back to America and lose it to Tyler.

If Low Ki comes back, he should use a "I never lost cleanly," storyline to win the title.
But, Nigel needs to hold the title for a good four more months.

i like nigel as the champ, i hope he keeps his reign goin. As for who i'd like to see win the ROH belt, well there is a few choices i like, El Generico..OLE!, Kevin Steen, Delirious, Jay Briscoe, or Chris Hero.

If you want real heel heat make it someone that has never been in ROH or works for ROH very rarely. I just don't believe the storyline if it's an NOAH star especially Marufuji, who has worked many times in ROH. I'm not an expert on Puro so I don't want to throw names out, but if I could do it I'd have a young up and comer from AJPW or NJPW win the belt in America and refuse to come back. Like your idea ROH would send guys to Japan and even asks NOAH and DG to send their guys after the belt because they have good relations.

Or...how about someone that people have actually heard of? Seriously, though, has Yuji Nagata ever worked ROH? Because as unlikely as it would be he'd do it, THAT would lead to some killer matches.

He asked for a NOAH name, I gave him one.
Here's another one: Muhammed Yone.
