Dude, Joekishi, I didn't wanna say anything, but YOU seem to be the only dude obsessed with the weight. The only time it's brought up is pretty much when you do. You start some kind of "Joe is fat" thread at least once a month. At this point, it's you, man, not us. I concur. Joekishi is one of my favorite posters, but lately it's like 2/3 of his posts have been about wrestlers being fat. I don't get the preoccupation either. I also agree... it's a hatred of fatties man. And you enjoy Shane Storm... man, bad on two counts

This was probably one of the most inconsequential posts ever on this board.

So what's your point? The great workers can't be fat?

At about 1:20 I think this guy is calling out Joekishi.
(note: if you haven't seen the whole rant its pretty funny, albeit not wrestling related)

is it a joke or coincidence that in a thread about wrestlers being fat the ad at the top of my screen is for "Gay Chubby Dating"?

is it a joke or coincidence that in a thread about wrestlers being fat the ad at the top of my screen is for "Gay Chubby Dating"? I believe the ads are triggered by key words inside the page. So when it see's "fat" it triggers the gay chubby dudes. Personally for this reason alone I wish the mods would filter "fat, chubby, large, big boned" or any other adjective used to describe large people. Maybe the filtered word can be "Yoko" or something.

I always equate fat with neing out of shape, unathletic etc. I mean..a guy Joe's size who don't carry his weight well and has to stop to catch his breath alot is fat to me..someone like Joe really isn't. I guess the difference is in the definition. 'fat' is a word that describes appearance, the only way this can differ based on the definition is if one person has the definition wrong, fat doesnt describe being unhealthy its simply a look, guys like joe are fat asses who have great conditioning and cardio (or had, since joe seems to be getting blown up nowadays), no matter how physically fit he is he still is considered fat and the other funny thing is a lot of the guys saying joe isnt fat are the same ones who'll go and make jokes about jbl being huge

Takes out the guesswork.

Takes out the guesswork. It's called a dictionary, and it tends to concur with that definition. But yeah, they're heavy, so what's the point? The OP seems to have some sort of weird obsession with getting people to admit they're fat.

Me and five other people can look at the same person and have varying opinions on if they are considered "fat."

I think "fat" is pretty straightforward in terms of having a definition. But yeah, fat doesn't always mean you're not fit or healthy, blah blah blah.
You know what Joe can do to help his appearance, though? GROW BACK THE DAMN MUTTON CHOPS, JOE!

I think part of this comes from that for the longest time any time it was mentioned, "Yeah Joe's a bit overweight" a lot of people would immediately jump on you for even THINKING of saying it. I usually don't look at people's weights when judging them as a wrestler, but I do see why people still have hangups on Joe BECAUSE OF HIS WEIGHT.
I agree about the mutton chops though.

I think the thing with Joe is that a lot of fans of his were already tired of having to "defend" his size after his ROH title run. Fans who had never seen him before, or had only seen some of his work, were still taken aback by it, through no fault of their own, but his fans were probably just kind of sick of the whole issue.
I think the deal when Joe faces bigger guys is that they sometimes still try to book him as stronger, and while he certainly is strong, that's not what makes him unique, anyway. Part of what made Joe vs. Steiner good back in the day when it went down, and part of what made Joe vs. any number of bigger guys he faced in ROH good, as well, was that Joe didn't spend entire matches throwing guys around the ring like he was a hoss or something (outside of his signature suplex spots, the S.T.Joe, and whatnot).
Instead, the match plotting depicted Joe as the heavier hitter, the better submission wrestler, the all-around better fighter. Joe can use his size and weight against smaller guys and guys more his size (he did a great job playing the big man in his classics with CM Punk, for example), but against bigger wrestlers, he needs to be depicted instead as the guy who's chops are just that much sharper, who's kicks and forearm shots are just that much tougher, etc. So, he's not attempting to throw, say, Kevin Nash around the ring, but he still comes across kind of like a monster simply by fighting like one.
And good, we agree; the mutton chops are a must, Joe! Bring them back! Makes him look tougher and less baby-faced.

I'm also going to appreciate fat wrestlers. People always mock Big Daddy for being the excretory matters, but the man was the biggest draw in the UK. I thought this too until the good folks on here pointed out otherwise. The peak of British Wrestling was actually marginally before Big Daddy. And while he was a big draw he also killed the UK wrestling business BECAUSE he stayed around too long, and people started to think he was a fat old man who didnt really look like he could beat anyone anymore. Also Big Daddy isn't critiscized for being fat, he's critiscized for being a poor wrestler. Also Joe and Umaga and etc. are fat, but they're well cardio'd athletic fatties.

Ok, Joe is big. The dude isn't fat, he's Samoan. Those guys are usually pretty big. I'm sure his body fat is where it should be. Obviously the guy will never be chizzled like Batista or something, but I don't see why anybody would want him to be.
Actually, I fail to see the relevance. I mean, it's one thing when you're pointing out that a wrestler has gotten fat (ie Braden Walker) because it shows that they're changing for the worse. But with someone like Joe or Umaga who are just naturally big guys, I don't see the fact in pointing it out. The fact that they can work has nothing to do with anything. Yokozuna wasn't much of a worker, and he definitely was fat, but it's irrelevent. Fat guys have a role in wrestling, just like they do in football.
