Did any of you used to play the play by mail game that was in Pro Wrestling Illustrated called the "IWA" (Imaginary Wrestling Association)?
It's basically a role playing wrestling game where you choose holds for your wrestler. They used to give real belts and money prizes.
Current Pro Wrestlers Gregg Helms, American Dragon, Preston Quinn, Eric Stevens, Crash Holly, and Davey Richards are all former "managers" of an imaginary wrestler.
The game is still currently advertised and available, however it's mostly internet run now although they still send the monthly bulletins via snail mail.

Yes I did. For about a year in fact. Had loads of fun, but a dollar for every promo and match? Looking back, I can't believe how much I spent. Of course, never thought to update my move list which was my undoing.
BTW, I don't think Crash Holly is a current pro wrestler, seeing as he has departed this earth.

I did it for a few months in the early '90s, but it was crazy expensive for what you actually got. I think it was around a dollar for each match you entered your wrestler in, and all that dollar bought you was a line in the arena reports that said whether your guy won or lost and what the winning move was.
I ended up stealing the IWA points system and running a version of the game with my friends at school where they didn't have to pay. I had like 300 moves in my fed, as opposed to the 60 or so that the official IWA used. There was a lot of math involved to work out the results of each match, but it was fun.

Yeah, I played. I kept track of the value of every move for months, charted the moves that consistently landed in the top ten, and never did figure it out. How did the top people always win so much? I still had fun and ended up doing their football game too.

I played in the late eighties/early ninties and enjoyed it. My friends and I had a stable called "The Men's Club." We used to prank call other managers in the IWA, lol. My greatest angle was to create a new wrestler unbeknownst to my best friend and sneak attack him month after month (He was called "The Living Nightmare"). I even took a title from him. Then one month I challenged him and one of my wrestlers to a "loser leave league match" and asked another wrestler we were feuding with to be my partner. He accepted. I sent in TERRIBLE moves that month and we lost. My wrestler and the guy we were fueding with had to leave the fed, lol. I sent in a write up the next month how it was a ll a swerve on the guy who had to leave. The look on my buddy's face when I told him "It was ME, Austin! It was me all along!" was priceless! My buddy's name is "Playboy" John Kruse for those that ran across him. I think he's STILL active today! Warsman

I used to play in the mid 90's. It was a lot of fun.
I remember being on a wrestling newz-site and reading an article from a guy named Fritz Capp, who used to be the "big guy" in the league I was in. That was pretty odd.

I did the same to my friend. I had a guy named "Jacknife Johnny" and had him sneak attack my friend... I did the opposite though... I had him tank at the beginning, always making sure he had two or three certain crappy moves... then I challenged him to a loser leaves league match and beat him. I followed him to his other league and revealed who I was.
I had a great time playing back in the day. I played for quite a few years until the internet took the fun away.
I was in a group with John Kruse!! The group was called the International Pain Foundation. Guess who our rival was? Fritz Capp!
Small world, small world.

Fun times. Small world, as well.

Ahh, the days before the E-Fed craze.... Speaking of which, who in here was also E-Fed alumni? I used to be in some awesome E-Fed leagues in the late 90's. Once I got a job, I simply had no time for them anymore. How about Dice Feds? You know, AOL chatrooms and "//roll"...I loved though, and met some great people, some of which I still talk with to this day.

Had my own Efed, nobody signed up though. So me and my 3 friends just made up a bunch of wrestlers... And added a new one or two every couple of months.. We had booking meetings once a month to figure out storylines and whatnot... The most interesting thing was how some characters evolved over time...

My stable was a part of the Star Studded League. Did anyone ever do the Roughhouse League, or whatever it was called?

Corresponding with Derek was probably the highlight of my IWA days.

I had several guys in the IWA. Only one of them Max Roberts won the league championship. The rest of guys became jobbers.

Ahh, the days before the E-Fed craze.... Speaking of which, who in here was also E-Fed alumni? Oh yeah, I was an e-fed freak a few years ago. I would always show up in a promotion, win a few belts, and then leave champion.
