Yeah, I'm not sure why people would get upset about the Rhett stuff. He's not supposed to be a face, and it takes his character (which isn't supposed to be serious...) to a different level now. It's great. It's like finding out Sherman was a virgin at the end of American Pie.

I don't expect the 26th and 27th to be all that much better, really. You're just bitter because you don't get a title match. FB should be really good with Fuji/Nigel, Shima/Dragon stealing the show. The Philly show stealer will for sure be Aries/Fuji if both bring their A game.

I'm not angry at the Rhett stuff, but it does lead me to ask: where do they go from here? I guess the only way I can think is if I goes on with his life like nothing happened and plays the same character while all his opponents and the fans continuously remind him that he's a virgin.

So, do we now call him Rhett "Never Been Kissed" Titus? Or Rhett "Like a Virgin" Titus?

Irish Airborne is now officially a big joke. As a good friend of both Dave and Jake Crist, I can say that they've ALWAYS been a joke, but in a fun, actual joking way. Some of the best comedy tag matches I've seen this side of CHIKARA. I'm also confused though why they did the job in their first return match against people who aren't high profile opponents (I'm not counting the return match against the Briscoes. That was obvious for the loss.)

However, all they've done lately is Jobbed in ROH. Dave is seriously hindered by that damn Juggalo tattoo as well. Last night was the first time I've ever seen them work heel... and it was terrible. Someone needs to tell them that making a frowney ( ) face doesn't make you heel. I thought surely they'd go over Bushwhackers 2.0, but instead they job to a battering ram... I wll say though, Dave sold that move like he'd been shot...

The IA can't work heel. That's their biggest problem. Dave is too much of a f***ing goof. Jake could pull it off, but not Dave. I'll see what I can get out of them though.
If they take the booking in Chicago, I will be all over their ass for anything less than a * * * * * match.

You're just bitter because you don't get a title match. ...Yeah? So? Hey, Philly got a title change. Detroit hasn't, if anyone has the right to be bitter it's me. Plus you get a first time ever match in Fuji/Aries. Oh, and Mickie James > Malcom Reynolds.

Here's a review of last night's show, for what it's worth.
As stated on Friday night, my biggest worry going into Saturday would be the crowd. I was very pleased with the turnout. ROH got the crowd that was at--or better than--what they could have expected, I think. On the other hand, there were several people showing up because it was a "wrestling event," not necessarily because it was ROH. You got a lot of people that you'll find in the Virginia/Kentucky/Tennessee indy fed gyms who cheer relentlessly for the babyfaces and jeer the heels with their tired but true cliche' remarks and chants. I know that's the ideal thing to happen, and I'm not critical in the least. It was just funny as a frequent ROH attendee to see limited response to some of the ROH stars that get cheered regardless of their alignments (Tyler Black, Larry Sweeney, Claudio, etc.--and yes, Larry Sweeney actually got the heel treatment from the majority of an ROH event crowd). More on this a little later, but the heel that got over seemingly the most with the "new fans" was ... DAVEY FREAKING RICHARDS--to which I obviously marked. Not to be too alarmed, the majority of the ringside seats were definitely filled with ROH fans. Which brings me to the venue. Biggest venue I've seen an ROH event held, including Orlando (which in reality may have no been as big as I recall at that time). This was in the old Vanderbilt basketball gym, which meant that the bleacher seats were plentiful and it had an actual arena feel to it. Obviously, the area was blocked off and ringside was cramped, but camera side and east of camera side bleachers were plentiful--and THAT's where a lot of the aforementioned Kentucky/Tennessee regulars seemed to be huddled.
Great choice in the opener. And the first sign that ROH was playing somewhat toward crowd members that had never seen the product was that the Briscoes were playing babyface amid this supposed heel turn. I thoroughly enjoyed this for the little opener that it was, and the crowd dug this contest a lot too. It set the stage for what kind of action to expect later.
Rhett Titus is still awesome, but he seemed a little more PG than usual. By the way, vote for this guy on the VH1 Daisy of Love thing.
After reading the St. Louis results, the second of my huge worries revolved around the SHIMMER injuries/maladies. With MsChif out and Ashley Lane in, it was going to make the 4-Corner Survival match take a majorly different turn. Added to that was that Daizee wasn't prepared to wrestle, and that meant bad news, I felt. I was hoping Sara would carry this one and give these fans something to respect, rather than gawk at. Wrong. As per typical fans of this area, the first two ring entrances were responses to Ashley Lane and then Serena Deeb (complete with breast enhancement surgery and a TERRIBLE choice of ring attire, which basically looked like she was BEGGING for an interview with head of the WWE skank police) and these entrances were full of cat calls and the most derogatory remarks you can imagine. Daizee had already been out for a sex scandal angle, so this match was shot from the get-go. Sara basically got no-sold, as she was playing heel and not pretty, pretty princess. Lord knows I did my best to put her over, with more "Sara" chants and arbritrary mid-match verbal support toward the athletes than I'm used to. Sara did kick everyone's rear end and gave the fans something to respect, but Lane and Serena had ruined this by being eye candy. The majority of fans responded accordingly. And don't get me wrong, I am seriously a big supporter of Serena and have always wanted her to "make it", but I also know she's bringing a lot of this on herself, and if that's what she wants, then she's big enough to take criticism. She got A LOT of sexual innuendos thrown her way, and that's what she'd better expect based on the decisions she's made in image in the last six months.
Sorry, I just love SHIMMER and want to see it thrive. I'll move on. As mentioned earlier, Davey Richards came in as basically an unknown in this area and got over fairly well in this match. Even after the loss to the babyface teams, Richards got CHANTS--loud chants--at the end of this one. And at this point, I'll mention this. It seemed like good ROH booking for this card to do things that appealed to a live audience, but also to handle the Rhett/Daizee/Necro segment and Larry Sweeney's decision to wrestle as a way of making non-attendees lurking on the internet to mark out, or at least RESPOND to it. Both of these things were much better to read about on the net than to actually be there for. And it's a clever way of making a card out of a depleted roster who were all off doing something else this weekend.
Irish Airborne? I swear they're good. They can take a beating and have paid their dues in that deparment time and time again. So, with that said, I don't really get their tag match with Redwood/Luke, but the fact they lost is somewhat worse. Again, going back to the booking scheme, I do understand it in the "big picture" sense, however. The place really dug Bushwhacker Luke, as might be expected. He got a big response, so again, remember the type of crowd we're dealing with, and I guess you've got another positive for ROH on the night. (Irish Airborne was trying to play heel to a crowd who didn't know who they were, and I thought that was a little different for them and an interesting sidenote.)
Jacobs/Black vs. Butcher/Aries wasn't as good as the report I saw here, which basically only said "good match until the double DQ. I know that Black and Aries had some good, but limited exchanges, but from all four participants, this was several levels below what I'm used to from them. Necro had something seriously wrong with him and was WAY off his game, I felt. Being front row, I honestly compared it to Jake "The Snake" Roberts as to his sloppiness, grogginess, and the devil-may-care attitude in both talking with the crowd DURING THE MATCH (a little irregular from him compared to what I've seen) and in the middle of the action. (Granted, it wasn't as bad as Jake, but the level at which he was under the influence seemed *really* apparent to me at least.) The others didn't really do anything "wrong," per se, but it wasn't the all-out action I'm used to seeing from Black/Aries/Jacobs combined. Out of the three, I thought Aries did the most in this match and was pretty darn sharp.
The reports pretty much cover Dragon vs. Claudio. Danielson was bleeding pretty heavily, and blood ended up EVERYwhere and on EVERYone even remotely involved in the match.
Finally, Nigel vs. Lynn was the match of the night. There, I said it, and you can crap on it all you want to. I was sitting in the biggest jackhole section, who were criticizing Nigel while straight across from me, there were idiots trying to get in Jerry Lynn's head. Shouts about rest holds here and there, Jerry Lynn's age, and Nigel's use of lariats got old after the first couple of times, but it didn't end there. By mid-way through the match, however, those same absolute IDIOTS who were crapping all over the match were cheering their hind-ends off. I wish I could have recorded it, gotten them together after the show, and then shown their own idiocy to them on video, and the followed it up with a Roderick Strong chop to the chest.
Now, here's my soapbox rant finale about it all. Nigel executed ONE lariat that I can recall. People were actually chanting "same old ****" to him. Are you freaking kidding me? I know I'm not at EVERY ROH show, but I don't know anyone who is, and I can say that this McLariat crap is WAY WAY WAY overblown. First of all, it's a HECKUVA impact move, and secondly, Danielson and Claudio execute at least 5 times more European uppercuts than Nigel's lariats on ANY given night, yet not one person says crap about it. Strong, Stevens, and Go chop the piss out of their opponents over and over again many more times than Nigel's lariat, but no one says JACK! If these haters/morons would actually pay attention and count a ratio of executed moves that AREN'T lariats to actual lariats from Nigel over the last 6-10 matches, they'd see that he actually has more variety in his matches than well over half the roster. Nigel is NOT my favorite wrestler in ROH, and that's what makes it sad--even I can see that the hating about lariats is pure blindness. I don't care about people flipping him off and hating him and his heel-like ways, but saying the guy can't wrestle is the biggest joke I've ever heard, especially since most of it is from jerks who ironically think Larry Sweeney and Bobby Dempsey are gods.
I meant to comment much more about the Lynn/Nigel match, but that bitterness about fans is still resonating with me from last night. I would much rather take a Package Piledriver or Jay Driller (which both wrestlers protect their opponents from and make look amazing in kayfabe in the process) than a Nigel lariat (which fans crap all over).

However, all they've done lately is Jobbed in ROH. "lately"? LATELY? okay, that word shouldn't be included for two reasons: 1) all they've ever done ROH is job, and 2) they just returned to ROH a few weeks ago for the first time in over a year.
