More info from DOI. I went to the hospital today and they tell me it might be a fractured eye socket and we are going to sue them. I am not sure who is who but the guy at the door was laughing when we asked for my coat back and DVD's. My wallet was stolen too by them because they let my freind inside to get my coat and a ROH guy already had gone thru it. There is this alley on the side of the venue and I waited until the end of the show to try to talk to this guy named Sid who everyone told me about. I think he owns some of ROH or is a manager. When someone pointed him out to me he cursed me out and ran back inside. I waited for Cary to come and he was smoking a big cigar and also rushed away before I had a chance to explain that we never did anythingg to Austin. I have supported ROH for a few years now and no matter how they f***ed over my freinds with tickets in NJ and NY we still went to the shows. I can't tell you how many times they sell us seats and then we get there and they are taken. I told my lawyer I am talking to you and I have to watch what I say but we are going to sue them I was at the ROH show last night. The show was one of the best indy shows that I ever attended. The work rate was awesome, the angles all clicked, and the show ended at a reasonable time. I would consider myself as a casual ROH fan. I only attend ROH shows if they bring in outside talent. I saw the incident with Austin Aries from the upper balcony section. I did not see or hear the verbal abuse that prompted Austin Aries to retaliate against the fan. I just saw Austin drilling the fan twice in his face. This occurred in the corner by the entrance ramp. I thought it was a angle at first. Than the referee grabbed the fan until security threw him out. Earlier in the night a fan was thrown out as the Briscoes were building towards the finish against Nakajima & Sasaki. This killed the finish slightly, since the crowd was distracted. Just because you buy a ticket, it is not appropriate that you should make sexually explicit or personal comments to a wrestler. None of us would want to be heckled about our personal choices & personal lives in the work place. I was annoyed when some idiot seated near me kept screaming that Kensuke Sasaki is a murderer [based on the incident that a trainee died in the New japan Dojo from brain trauma]. I found Austin Aries actions disgusting. Granted the fan provoked the incident. But that still does not give Aries the right to cause physical harm to a fan. There are legal and civil consequences to those actions. I hope Cary Silkin & Austin Aries are going to be equipped for a lawsuit. Since they both handled the situation in such a poor manor. As we've been doing for the past several months, I have been forwarding all updates to our webmaster. I just wanted to let everyone know that I haven't been able to 100% confirm that the fan who said he got destroyed by Aries is the fan who actually got hit. Anyone can google a black eyed person and say it's them, so just keep that in the back of your head. No one that I know can confirm if this is the guy who actually got hit. Regardless, from all accounts, it seems that the fan got drilled several times by Aries, which tells me that Aries got personal on him. I could understand if Aries hit the guy once, but to pummel someone makes me think that the fan who got hit definitely got under Austin's skin for him to react that way. We'll have more soon. Either way, the fan who got hit probably should've filed a police report once the incident happened, not wait the next day to lawyer up as there is no incident on file with New York State.

I went over to DOI and this guy is claiming that ROH stole his coat, the DVDs he bought while there and, his wallet. Also, if this was about anything more than money and he didn't do anything to provoke Austin, why not go the police?

A video of this incident would be nice because I don't 100% trust the reports from the ROH board because they are going to side with ROH/Aries and I'll never trust DOI because of their holy war against ROH.

three things about this 1)If he sues, or at least threatens to sue, after taking 1 punch, he's a bigger pussie than me. 2)His beef should be with Aries, not ROH. 3)$20 says he's at the next ROH show in Manhattan. 1) Look at his snorking eye. Aries is a trained professional. 2) He said that it's with both. Last sentence of the copied post. 3) This I won't deny. 1)He knew that Aries was a trained professional. If you piss off a fighter/wrestler and you get hit, you deserve what you get. 2)Still, its not ROH's fault that Aries hit him.

Meh I have drank with Aries, at my table a few times in teh past seems like an ok enough guy but there is a reason the ROH students and the Ballroom have security and regardless what this kid did he doesn't deserve this. Heckling comes with the industry. Indeed I was spit on by Lacey herself for calling her a whore, which she is by the way. A stuck up snobbish whore. Of course television might have had an affect on Aries, or lack thereof. If you seriously think that he will get laughed out of court then you are one of the stupidest people to ever post ona messsageboard. I mean, Lacey was booked in ROH for YEARS as a sex symbol and used her sexuality as a way to invoke a reaction from fans. If Austin Aries punched every single fan in the face that ever said they wanted to f*** Lacey at a show, his hands would be broken. In my opinion, there's no reason a wrestler should've even responded to anything like that. If you're a public performer, especially for a promotion that draws such hypercritical fans, they need to have tougher skin than that. Aries had no reason to get pissed off to the point where he did that and event security should've been on top of that. And I beat if there is footage of it they will either use it to defend themselves (ROH) or it will be destroyed.

Assuming the picture is true and the victim's account is accurate, ROH would be responsible if Aries was under contract to ROH. I recall ROH giving their workers contracts with health insurance and other perks during the beginning of their PPV days.
If this is true and he's going to sue for the incident, this could be a big time issue for ROH.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were just as many contradictory reports sent to DOI saying the fan started it, but because DOI hates ROH, they won't be posted.

This will indeed be a very interesting situation to see. Obviously, there are reports saying Aries lashed out. Last night, there were reports that the fan hit Aries first. We'll just have to see, I guess.

i wonder if they'll show it on a videowire or something? seems like people are talking about this more than any of the matches, and it isn't exactly an issue ROH can ignore.

If ROH is sued and this kid wins, what could be the extent of damage to the company? Could Final Battle be an appropriate name for the show?

a lawsuit usually takes a while, so they could probably do a few more shows.

yeah, even if the person wins, ROH will most likely be able to at least run the rest of the year.
If the kid has a case, ROH will probably settle and just pay for the medical bills if he has anything substancial(Aries will probably have to front at least part of it), and give him two free tickets anytime ROH comes to NYC. If it were me in the situation, I'd take that deal.

As a pro athlete, Aries should be used to being heckled by fans. Whether or not the guy was being an idiot, Aries had no right to put his hands on a fan.

Note, this is an opinion from someone that works in the legal world (in the state of New York much less) and is going to Yale Law for his JD:
The problem for the fan who is alleging this is that no police report has been filed. It's like if someone steals your wallet and does fraud with it, until the police report is filed you can't do anything about getting your money back.
It's also like with what happened with the infamous ECW court case where all the footage of the alleged incident 'mysteriously' disappeared. Plus with so many conflicting reports of what happened I can garuntee you that any lawyer worth his salt would be able to 'prove' that Aries wasn't even in the state when this happened. The kid should have immediatly filed a police report for assault because the longer he waits, the more evidence that can help him will disappear.
Also, another thing to consider is that he admitted to hasseling Aries about his girlfriend earlier in the evening, and then continued to heckle him during the match. Now, if he then laid his hands on Aries IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM, Aries is actually totally justified (according to the law) with responding the way he did because he was provoked. I'm not condoning what Aries did in the slightest, just saying that he does have the law on his side in this instance.
Although I wouldn't be surprised if he did do that much damage to the kid if he was suspended for his actions.
