I'm an ardent Benoit defender but you can hardly blame Sullivan for making his life hell when he went off with his wife. What exactly did Sullivan do to him Booking, holding him down, politics and general nastiness in the back. Sullivan had his cronies as well.

Hmm. Have I got no conscience or something? I ask because I don't feel even the slightest bit uneasy watching anything Benoit related, and it's nothing to do with me thinking he was a great wrestler (Though I do think that.) Knowing what he did wouldn't make me watch the disc nor turn it off. As harsh as it sounds, I had no personal investment in the Benoit family so, as tragic as the events were, they don't move me one little bit.
I'll put it like this: Hitler was arguably the biggest monster in history, but I'd still watch a good WWII documentary knowing he was responsible for thousands, if not millions, of needless deaths. And serial killer docs are on TV all the time (I'm pretty sure theres a channel specifically for that kind of stuff)
I'm really, really, really not trying to be a dick here, and I'm not saying anyone's wrong - whatever you are comfortable (or not) with is your own business - I'm just surprised that as many people took the tragedy as.....personally (for want of a better term) as they did.
Hope I've expressed myself clearly here.
As for the DVD, it's just like others have said; Great match selection, lackluster doc.

He was married to woman at the time and basically had Benoit and her hanging out all the time traveling together to keep kayfabe and well it led to her leaving Sullivan for Benoit. And with Sullivan being head booker Benoit was pretty well f***ed for awhile...

I was wanting some clarification because at the time there was a Horsemen/DOD feud and at the beginning it was Pillman/Sullivan and after he left it became Benoit/Sullivan. Was that because of Woman or did it sort of gradually become about Woman?

Nothing wrong unless you make it wrong. I've said it before but it bears repeating, an event like the Benoit Murder/Suicide is bound to be a polarizing one. I'd honestly be more afraid if it wasn't. Those that can seperate the man and the performer are always going to see things differently than those who cannot. No one faction is right or wrong in thir interpretation of history unless glaring omissions are made. That said, I found his matches enjoyable, would love to see his early non-WWE work (I really started following wretling around the time WCW folded) and even in light of how his life ended have no big issue with watching his matches. In short...enjoy the DVD, it sounds like it's a grand exhibiton of technical wrestling nd don't let anyone else try to ruin it with thier opinions You should really check out his ECW and WCW work. (I'd recommend his Japan stuff, but I am woefully unfamiliar.) I'm not going to weigh in on what happened, and I am only speaking objectively: his matches with Eddie Guerrero and Dean Malenko, as well as the "hardcore" matches with the likes of Kevin Sullivan and Raven are classic. Also worth finding: Chris Benoit vs. Bret Hart - any of them.

I can't watch the documentary any more. It's just like one of those PROFILE OF A SERIAL KILLER things you see on bad TV. The matches, however, I will always watch.

I really wish this had been a triple disc. Oh well, it's his fault that there's a 99.9% chance he'll never have another DVD set of his work.

Hope I've expressed myself clearly here. As for the DVD, it's just like others have said; Great match selection, lackluster doc. I don't think you sound like a dick for that. I actually see your point. And to be honest, the only explanation I can give for taking it so personally (or however one would describe it) is that I was a fan of Benoit; it's like how I never met John Gacy or Jeffrey Dahmer or the BTK guy, so I can watch a documentary about one of them and be completely compelled, but if it were someone like, say, Seth MacFarlane or Matt Groening or Stephen Colbert or Jon Stewart who did what Benoit did, I'd probably react and feel the same way as I do about the Benoit situation. I realize that seeing someone on TV all the time or being a fan of their work is not even close to knowing them as a person, but it is a different kind of relationship than just "a man in Wisconsin was arrested for murder and cannibalism." Does that make sense? It's early in the morning for me and I'm trying to piece thoughts together, but it's just not happening at the moment; this is the best I could do. I hope it explains things.
