Exactly. And yet, people continually bring it up as if it's some hysterical piece of cutting edge comedy. YOu know, it is possbile(and highly likely) that some people still find it funny. Just sayin. Yup, people bring it up because they find it funny. What I find odd about it is this is the joke that some people seem to take the most offense to.

I find Ken Patera jokes funny but you don't see me do them all the time!

In fairness, I do hope Mickie just goes the gym a bit more, and doesn't respond to the pressure with HGH, fat burning steroids and/or dieting pills (all of which I'm fairly certain a few divas have done over the years.)
I remember Dawn Marie said she used to go days without eating solid foods (liquid dieting) when she knew she had a photoshoot coming up.

I think the problem with Mickie is her fanbase more than her. Sorry guys but you are a little too fanatical. If you learn to accept some criticism I'd bet people would be less likely to get on Mickie's case. Most of the criticism is just trolling honestly. Correct. Hell only reason I do it is because some of the over-reactions are hilarious. flame baiting is fun and games until someone gets banned.

YOu know, it is possbile(and highly likely) that some people still find it funny. Just sayin. Yup, people bring it up because they find it funny. What I find odd about it is this is the joke that some people seem to take the most offense to. Really... you think that's odd? Like, because... it's kind of a horrible joke. By which I mean, anyone who makes it is either a horrible person or is momentarily pretending to be a horrible person. See, like... there's this entire huge social problem of body image and eating disorders, which, y'know, exists, and you exist in relation to it, whether you like it or not. There's a woman that's not fat and you're calling her fat, har har. Meanwhile, there are women who aren't fat and think they're fat and then DIE BECAUSE OF IT. Like, sorry, you can't exist apart from that. Factor in also the somewhat unseemly question of, Gosh, what form of entertainment might cause its fans to be particularly screwed up in terms of body image? Could it possibly be the one where steroid-ridden behemoths prance around showing off their bodies? Y'know, the one commonly believed to be hugely misogynistic? It's no worse for people to make fun of Mickie than it is for people to make fun of Dreamer or Mysterio or Hardy for being fat (in fact, I think that's worse because I kind of believe people actually think those guys are really fat, which is just insane), but it does validate a fairly awful stereotype of wrestling fans. So, like, why do people get offended? Because those jokes are terrible, people who make them are terrible (whether out of stubborn shortsightedness or tiresome flame-baiting), they imply a worldview that's terrible, they validate a stereotype of wrestling fans that's terrible, and they kind of might imply a truth about wrestling fans that's terrible. So, like, there's lots of reasons, dude.

I think most of the guys out here calling Dreamer, Hardy or Mickie fat look like me. And I'm fat, fat fat fat fat.

Correct. Hell only reason I do it is because some of the over-reactions are hilarious. flame baiting is fun and games until someone gets banned. And then we talked about the banned behind their backs. ;D But yes, if someone gets insulted by a Mickie James fat joke, then people are just going to keep it up until people stop complaining about it. BUT, the only people to continuously complain are the people that defend Mickie's case, and get riled up when people make fun of the weight. Lather, rinse, repeat. Just grab a box of popcorn and you're set for the thread.

YOu know, it is possbile(and highly likely) that some people still find it funny. Just sayin. Sometimes there's no accounting for taste. But what is good taste? What is bad taste? Everyone has different takes on the threshold of what they find funny and what they find over the line. Just because someone makes a joke about Arby's and Mickie doesn't mean that they have poor taste. Please refrain from blanket statements, thank you. Alas, this thread was about the Newz of Mickie and her being in trouble for putting on so much weight. If the Arby's discussion continues, then this thread will just be locked, just like 75% of every single other Mickie thread. If she's overweight per wrestling standards, and it's inhibiting her performance, and that is directly associated to weight gain, then I don't see the problem with the WWE reprimanding her, if the reports are true.

Right, I think people get it in their heads that when people say Mickie is "fat" it means disgustingly obese. Shes certainly not that. But compare her to her peers and shes a little soft. Personal tastes aside if the WWE feels she gained weight and its unacceptable for their standards then so be it. Mickie certainly has put on some weight, and shes been wrestling some awful matches, hindered greatly by the fact the other Divas shes in there with cant seem to get out of their own way, but she should look at her "demotion" to Smackdown as a positive, they certainly could have just fired her as shes not essential to their product.

Since when is the Arby's joke about Mickie James weight? Save your soapbox sermon on political correctness for one of the threads it applies to. \ But... what I said didn't have anything to do with political correctness. Save your defensive, buzzwordy posts for blah blah blah blah By the way, if you seriously think there's no connection between the Arby's jokes and the weight jokes, at least in this thread, that might explain why you're confused about people's reactions.

anyone who says Mickie is fat (and is serious about it not joking) doesn't understand the meaning of the word.
having a tiny bit of fat =/ being fat
having said that...
if Mickie went on a diet two nations would have enough to eat for a year
when she went to school she sat next to everybody
she stepped on a dollar and got four quarters
she was once in the middle of the road and i had to swerve around her but i ran out of gas
ok ok ok i'm done
... she sold her underwear to the circus because they needed a new tent
