That was truly incredible. A glimpse of the Mr. McMahon character about 4 years before it showed up in the WWF. Excellent video.

Check out that guys entire "McMemphis" collection, which covers a LOT of the WWF/Memphis invasion/war angle. Really great stuff all around.

They seem to put more effort into the Memphis/WWE talent exchange then WWE at the time

They seem to put more effort into the Memphis/WWE talent exchange then WWE at the time I'm not up on the particulars, but this happened in September 1993. In November, the infamous WWF steroid trial started. I'm venturing to guess that it was mostly McMahon doing his best to court Jerry Jarrett, who he intended to run the WWF should he be convicted.

So I guess this clears up the rumors that the "evil" Mr. McMahon persona was really inspired by the "evil" nWo Eric Bischoff

What was Jimmy Hart's statous with the WWF at the time of the Memphis vs WWF feud in Memphis?
I guess he was under contract to the WWF, because they would have used him, it made so much sense. We could have had a Hart Fondation reunion with Jimmy managing Bret and Owen to take on his old arch enemy Jerry "The King" Lawler.

I remember watching this sometime last year. It was awesome. I love how it shows the beginning of the Mr. McMahon character at a time where he was something of a fairly neutral babyface character in the WWF at the time.

Hart basically managed the odd combo of Mr. Hughes and Jeff Gaylord.

What's so odd here is that McMahon comes off much more natural, smooth and even heel-ier here than in his "real" Mr. McMahon run, where he just got very over the top and grating.

You think that is weird. Here is Vince and the King taping a promo for USWA in front of a WWF crowd in Boston. I guess the fans in Boston assumed when Lawler called Bret and the referee cheaters that he wasn't telling the truth, which heels are known to do.

I've seen this before, but its absolutely awesome. The seeds were planted for "Mr. McMahon" nearly a half decade before the character made its debut on WWE TV. Its quite fascinating watching the footage and thinking back to Babyface "BAAAAAAAAAAAACK BODY DROP" Vince McMahon. It was night and day.

I agree. And I never said it wasn't BS. Typical Bischoff really. Maybe he didn't know about the Memphis stuff, hell I didn't know about it until a year and a half ago, and I'd wager most didn't either. Technically, the McMahon heel here isn't the same as he was in 98-99 where he was using power to make/change matches, etc.

It's a little odd, but at the 2:00 minute mark, he has a strange resemblance to Razor Ramon in the way he delivers his lines.
