Because on Smackdown, they'd actually have to work for their money instead of getting paid to be in the background of guest host segments. This. Very much this. Smackdown's where the real workrate is at. Well duh! I mean this is the show where Batista wrestles.

It seems like they hint at it being the minor leagues, when in actuality most of the recent matches I remember being good to very good, took place on Smackdown or WWECW. I guess I haven't watched RAW in awhile, so my view is a bit skewed, but at the same time, the reason I do not watch RAW is because it had largely been the same main match since Wrestlemania this yr.

I think people are forgetting about the obvious: finances. Wrestlers probably get less non-guaranteed money on Smackdown, like people on ECW. People on ECW generally don't appear at PPV's, therefore, any PPV bonuses you are supposed to get, you won't. It also means less exposure, and less exposure means selling less merchandise, and less merchandise is less money for you. It's some of the reasons Kurt Angle got peeved when they put on the ECW brand in the early days. I can see the ECW argument. I don't see it for Smackdown. Both shows get about an equal number of matches, and Smackdown has actually mainevented more often than RAW in the last few PPVs.

Less exposure = less merchandise. Less merchandise = less money.
