I saw this on youtube, do not know if it was posted before.
Was Vince trying to lure them to WWF or was he trying to buy out WCCW in 1984? I know he tried later, but I did not know about him trying in 84.

Vince read the Von Erich blurb as if somebody was pointing a gun at him off-camera.

I'm more interested in the story about Salvatore Bellomo building paper ships. Seriously WTF was that about?

That was just weird it wasn't even a news piece. It was just like "Hey, do you know who exists? The Von Erichs. And speaking of existing... Salvatore Bellomo exists AND builds paper ships!"

Vince devoted numerous bits to the Von Erichs, from having Kevin and (I think) Kerry (or maybe David) doing one-shots at MSG in the early 80s to even mentioning Kerry's NWA title win in the WWF magazine when it happened to a tribute to David after he died.
There was even a scheduled talent trade with World Class at one point and WCCW was advertising Ricky Steamboat as coming in, but I don't think it ever happened.
Never known the whole story, but I think for the most part, Vince respected Fritz and probably saw him as a true contemporary. Fritz was the guy who introduced the modern production values to wrestling and Vince saw him as the only other guy in the biz who wasn't shackled by tradition totally.

Wow, the WWF didn't even acknowledge other titles or wrestling companies at this point, unlike the NWA territories. That is definitely kind of strange.

It was on WWF Championship Wrestling, I had found the footage when going through the discs I had of that year in WWF wrestling. They also had a 10 bell salute for one of the Von Erichs who died that year, I forget his name before one of the matches.

Would you mind sharing the 10 bell salute for David as well if you still have it?

Paul Bosch was up there with Fritz. He was no where near traditional. I think thats why he was friends with Fritz and without any fight folded into WWF. I mean he invented Mud wrestling. That is not traditional.
