But he didn't play at Oregon. I think you're thinking of Dennis Dixon.

And with that, the 2014 Arena Football League Playoffs are set! In the American Conference it will be: The Cleveland Gladiators with a league best regular season record of 17-1 VS. The Philadelphia Soul, with a record of 9-9. And the other matchup will be: The Orlando Predators with a record of 11-7 vs. The Pittsburgh Power with a record of 15-3 Over in the National Conference, it will be: The four time defending Arena Bowl Champions, the Arizona Rattlers, with a record of 15-3 vs. The expansion Portland Thunder, making it in with a record of 5-13. And the other side of the coin: The San Jose Sabercats, with a record of 13-5 vs. The Spokane Shock, with a record of 11-7. Here are my predictions for the playoffs: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Cleveland over Philadelphia Pittsburgh over Orlando
Arizona over Portland San Jose over Spokane
Conference Championships Cleveland over Pittsburgh Arizona over San Jose
ArenaBowl XVII Cleveland over Arizona

You know what: Portland over Cleveland in the Arena Bowl! If that happens, it would be the greatest night in the history of our sport!

So the first weekend of the AFL Playoffs is in the books. Here's how they went down.
Cleveland Gladiators d. Philadelphia Soul, 39-37, on a last second field goal. About right for the Cardiac Kids of the AFL.
Orlando Predators d. Pittsburgh Power, 56-48, after a late game interception seals it for the Predators.
San Jose Sabercats d. Spokane Shock, 55-28. Really, the only blowout of the playoffs so far.
Arizona Rattlers d. Portland Thunder, 52-48. The defending ArenaBowl Champions had to struggle against a 5-13 expansion Thunder. Not so good for Arizona.
So the Conference Championships look like this:
Orlando Predators @ Cleveland Gladiators
San Jose Sabercats @ Arizona Rattlers

And Arena Bowl XVII is set. The Cleveland Gladiators take down the Orlando Predators to win the American Conference Championship, 56-46. The Arizona Rattlers defeat their hated rival, the San Jose Sabercats, to win their fourth straight National Conference Championship, 72-56. So the stage is set. The Cleveland Gladiators. 17-1. The Cardiac Kids of the 21st Century. VS. The Arizona Rattlers. 15-3. Defending Back to Back AFL Champions, looking for the trifecta. It's insane that the Gladiators are the team that could win Cleveland's first Championship in 50 years.

So if Cleveland wins, will it count or will it count as much as The Cleveland Crunch winning championships in the 1990s?

How did Portland make it in with that record?

There are only 6 teams in the conference (3 per division), so there were two (LA and San Antonio) that were godawful.
Come on Gladiators, do NOT let Arizona win AGAIN.
I don't know if it's already been posted, but Vince Neil (lead singer of Motley Crue) has been awarded an expansion franchise for Vegas. The team will be the Las Vegas Outlaws (same name as the XFL team).

Never followed the team at all. I just know that because it seems like I hear 1964 was the last time a Cleveland team won a championship. Personally, since I know that now I no longer look at 1964 as the last time.

It's that time of the year, when it's time to speculate on expansion, relocation, and folding. From what I've read, San Antonio, New Orleans, and Iowa are all potentially on the chopping block. I'm guessing the Vegas team would take San Antonio's place in the West. I'd like to see them try New York again, maybe at the Barclays Center. Boston has also never had a team (New England-area franchises always went to Hartford or Providence).

I've heard rumors that they might move to the IFL, as there's quite a few teams there in smaller markets (Green Bay, Sioux Falls, Cedar Rapids, Grand Island, and so forth). And it might be more cost effective for them, since they wouldn't have to travel as far as they would in the AFL. In other news, the Champions Professional Indoor Football League and the Lone Star Football League have agreed to a merger. Which kinda makes me laugh, as both leagues were created to be more regionalized and less costly travel wise. I don't see how it would be cost effective for the Bloomington Edge to travel all the way to New Mexico to play the New Mexico Stars.

The logo for the Las Vegas Outlaws: As expected, the announcement on the AFL's Facebook page brought plenty of XFL references.

And the Rattlers have become the second team to three-peat, joining the Detroit Drive as they pounded the Cleveland Gladiators, 72-32, to win their fifth ArenaBowl title.
They are also now tied with the Tampa Bay Storm for the most AFL Championships with 5 apiece.

Big news expansion-wise for the Indoor Football League. Two teams have joined the league, one being an expansion team, the other being a team that's been a cornerstone of Arena Football. The Wichita Falls Nighthawks joined yesterday, after 2 years of outdoor Semi-Pro football, winning championships in two different leagues. But financial issues forced the team to be sold, and the new owner wants them to be an Indoor Football team. Not to be outdone by Wichita Falls, the league announced today the they would also be joined by... The Iowa Barnstormers. That's right, the Barnstormers of the Arena Football League have defected to the Indoor Football League. It's a move that I feel will make the league even more prestigious than it is now, as they have multiple franchises with rich histories, including three former af2 teams.

So I've been watching 4th and Loud on and off again. Tonight, I watched the episode that the wife of one of the co-owners lashed out at Bob McMillen, AFL legend, that they were playing poorly because "they practiced less than the dancers". And of course, the stupid co-owner just sits there and lets her lash out.
Both of them obviously have no clue on how to run an arena football team. Instead of firing the coaches, they need to get rid of this owner and his ditzy ass wife.
