I'm trying to get back into Arena Football but can't find a team to favor. I'm hoping one comes near me soon.

I think one of the major problems with arena/indoor football is the owners don't want to take time to let the team grow with the community and the cities. They want results NOW. Unfortunately, in this day and age, you can't get instant results. It's just not how it works. Plus it doesn't help when teams move all around to different leagues. I mean, here's how the list goes down: Moved to another league: Abilene Ruff Riders Amarillo Venom Corpus Christi Hammerheads Louisiana Swashbucklers Saginaw Sting Sioux City Bandits West Texas Roughnecks The rest are pretty much either folded or "inactive." Also, I'm somewhat disappointed that the Dallas Vigilantes folded. I was a major Dallas Desperados fan, and even had a jersey of theirs. But everyone thought they'd have the same success they did when they were the Desperados, and when they didn't, I think people gave up on them. Your point comes across exactly. What can doom a team is if ownership wants immediate results and when they don't see them, they either move out or close up shop. In fact, after the 2010 season, the Milwaukee Iron were planning on moving to another place because attendance wasn't up to par for their inagural year in the revived AFL. One such instance was here in Indy, but that was stopped because Pacers Sports and Entertainment insisted a $50,000 per game fee for the franchise, which I find absurd (but, then again, this group has dealt with money woes from Day One). So they stayed and adopted the old Mustangs nickname, yet attendance actually got worse. I'm worried that, after this season, they might end up folding. It's mostly regional-based, and if you want results, you have to show patience and give plenty of time. That's why the biggest fanbases in the AFL are also some of the oldest teams (Tampa Bay, Orlando, San Jose, and Arizona). I can also point out an example with Spokane, and despite them being the smallest market in that league, and having survived (unlike Alabama and Bossier-Shreveport), their fanbase is clearly one of the most supportive (same can also be said for their Spokane Chiefs, but virtually every American team in the WHL has a large fanbase). I can show images from the 2010 Arena Bowl where Spokane Arena was literally filled to the brim with Shock fans. When it comes to Dallas, that's saddening, especially when you see the attendance for the Vigilantes and then you look at the old days with the Desperados. I think what might've doomed the team was that they couldn't have the Desperados nickname, as it was being held by, of all people, Jerry Jones. Without that, some people felt this was a second-class team trying to replace what had quickly became the old guard, and I think that's what ended them. Yeah, I wasn't too enthralled either that they became the Vigilantes. Because I followed the Dallas Desperados. I bought a mini helmet of theirs this summer because I loved their team. I used to follow the Sioux City Bandits quite a bit when I lived back home. Then I moved to Sioux Falls, and started following the Sioux Falls Storm. That was the same year they had the insurance violation and had to forfeit 5 games. I was concerned that they wouldn't last after that, because their owner was in legal trouble. But fortunately, they survived. I still follow the Bandits a bit, but am disappointed that they moved to a different league. They became big fish in a little pond.

As reported, Terrell Owens has agreed to play for the Allen Wranglers of the IFL.
Can't wait until April. There's a Storm rolling through, TO!

The IFL kicks off this weekend, as the newly christened Bloomington Edge head down the road to face conference rival the Chicago Slaughter.
FAN fans, are you ready for Indoor Football?

It was all over the news here in Orlando when the Predators and Power all got fired before the game. Some of the players crossed the picket lines just so they could play in the season opener. Nobody in the know has ever seen anything like it in pro sports, and neither have I. Apparently the "strike" ended right after it started though, so the other teams are intact as before.
With some of the instability aside, at least, I hope the Storm can pull it together and become winners again. I must say it is awkward cheering for them in Predators territory.

I thought that was insane that the entire Pittsburgh Power team was fired at dinner at Olive Garden. I hope this doesn't really screw up the AFL. But I think the IFL is more stable than the AFL at the moment, and they're getting great press with Owens playing for the Wranglers.

Just like the 04 NHL lockout, I am with the owners. There just isn't revenue for a cross the board 300% raise. Give em a little more to keep the league going but don't cave.

If my math is correct, since they play for about $400 a game, a 300% increase would be $1200 a game. I could see that maybe in a few years, but not a couple years after the league nearly disappeared forever because of overspending. I don't want the AFL to go the way of the USFL. Yeah, it didn't help the USFL going up against the NFL broadcast wise, but one of the big things that killed the USFL was overspending.

It's amazing how af2 was actually able to thrive, while the AFL was messed-up towards the end. It's a shame they had to go and consolidate some of those franchises into the new arena league, because other than Spokane, they never stood a chance with that bizarre financial system. However, there are multiple factors. For example, you have to look at the relationship between the facilities and the clubs themselves. I also have to point this out, but the CIFL had to modify itself yet again. It was bad enough that the UIFL decided to make a franchise just to kick another out of its area (the Northern Kentucky River Monsters/Kentucky Monsters spat), but the Muncie franchise had to be replaced with yet another Chicago squad, but at least Evansville is finding new uses for its brand new arena. Plus, the Enforcers decided to leave the Fishers facility in favor of the SportsZone, which is one the west side of Indy.

The last month, the IFL Commissioner resigned so he could become a part owner of the Allen Wranglers. I've meet the guy once at the United Bowl last year. Seems kinda like a sleezeball. And him becoming part of the Wranglers after T.O. joined them seems too big to be a coincidence. Also, one of the most storied franchises of the IFL, the Omaha Beef, are being run by the league, as the owner is having financial difficulties. Hell, if they fold, we'd have lost 3 of our biggest rivals in the last 2 years. The Outlaws, the Bandits, and the Beef. Granted, the Bandits were our bitches the last few years, but it was still a rivalry, nonetheless.

The War on I-29 commences today, as my Sioux Falls Storm travel south to face the Omaha Beef. Should be a good game, no matter what.

Sioux Falls defeated Tri-Cities 73-72 in O/T on Saturday in what is probably the game of the year.
Also, after 4 months and 10 days of being in the league, The Allen Wranglers have released Terrell Owens and strips him of his ownership share.

And the IFL Playoffs are here!!
In the United Conference, the 14-0 Sioux Falls Storm welcome the 6-8 Lehigh Valley Steelhawks. And the 11-3 Green Bay Blizzard host the 10-4 Bloomington Edge.
In the Intense Conference, the 12-2 Tri-Cities Fever host the 8-6 Colorado Ice. And the 9-5 Allen Wranglers welcome probably their newest rival, the 8-6 Wichita Wild.
