Sucks to see the AFL go. I spent much of my childhood at the Knickerbocker/Pepsi Arena at Albany Firebirds games. When they announced the move to Indiana, I was heartbroken. Then a few years later, they were gone.

It is disappointing, Ishmeal. I think the AFL had its niche between 1992 and 2005. I started following it 2005 or so, and sadly, I think that was when it was the beginning of the end of the original AFL. Too much greed going around, and the collapse of the economy in 2008 didn't help things.

Then a few years later, they were gone. I stopped following the AFL after the Indiana Firebirds folded. I hated that they chose to kill them instead of keeping them around for 2005 when they allowed so much shit in the years to follow regarding franchise mismanagement. I really loved that team. When a cornerstone team is gone, you have to start panicking. Not at all surprised the AFL is dead. Just happy LA KISS is finally gone, though. By the way... San Angelo didn't really fold; they just transferred the operations to new management in Central Texas. Still... IFL ain't looking so good.

Yeah, I knew San Angelo basically transferred the ops to Belton. I've just seen it that San Angelo folded, and CenTex took its place, even though it was mainly a transfer over. Also, today, the Arizona Rattlers have announced that they will be leaving the AFL and moving to the Indoor Football League.

So what was the reason the LA Kiss folded? Just underperformed? Not enough onside kicks?

So what was the reason the LA Kiss folded? Just underperformed? Not enough onside kicks? I'm guessing Gene and Paul just got tired of spending money on a sport that doesn't make money unless you're in it for the long haul. And even then, you come out about even. Also, it just came out today that the Arena Football League will play next season.....with 4 teams: Cleveland Gladiators Tampa Bay Storm Washington Valor Philadelphia Soul It's 1987 all over again!!

I didn't know Dixie Carter had ownership interest in the AFL.

And the Indoor Football League has made it official, announcing that the Arizona Rattlers have left the AFL for the IFL.

After losing to Iowa today, and to Sioux Falls last week, the Arizona Rattlers start out their new life in the IFL at 0-2.
Have to say, didn't see that coming.

Big news today, as the Texas Revolution of the CIF announced that they have signed IFL veteran QB and Hall of Famer Chris Dixon to the roster.
Dixon, considered by many to be the best Indoor Quarterback in the history of Indoor Football, comes to the Revolution after 2 years off from playing, as he coached the now defunct Billings Wolves in 2015 and 2016. Before that, he had a long career as QB for numerous indoor teams, as well as a couple outdoor ones:
Oakland Vipers (2003) Eastside Hawks (2004) - Northwest Football League Champions, North American Football League National Champions. Black Hills Red Dogs (2005) Billings Outlaws (2005-2010) - 2006 NIFL Champions, 2009 IFL Champions, 2010 IFL Champions Sioux Falls Storm (2011-2012, 2014) 2011 IFL Champions, 2012 IFL Champions, 2014 IFL Champions Orlando Predators (2013) New Orleans VooDoo (2013) Tampa Bay Storm (2014)
The Revolution were a top contender already in the CIF, but I think this may make them the favorite to win the CIF this year.

Albany wants a crack at bringing the Firebirds back.
Before you cheer, think about the sorry state of the AFL and ask "is it worth it?"
