We are down to the Championship. The one for all the marbles. United Bowl IV. Sioux Falls Storm (14-0) vs. Tri-Cities Fever (12-2) The two best teams in the league, and Tri-Cities' two losses were at the hands of the Storm.

And here we are, another end to another season of the Indoor Football League. Here's my Season Wrap-Up and my views and opinions.
The Perfect Storm: The Sioux Falls Storm once again proved they were the cream of the crop when it comes to indoor football, going 17-0 and winning their second United Bowl in the IFL, sixth overall.
It was not a season without controversy, though, as multiple players were released due to legal issues and the Storm getting whacked by the league for stupid reasons, suspending their coach for 2 games.
But the Storm were able to overcome adversity and win another one for the city of Sioux Falls.
Fever Rising: The Tri-Cities Fever showed that they were an elite team once again, having the best record in the Intense Conference and making it to the United Bowl for the second year in a row, losing to the Storm once again.
Tri-Cities has proven time and time again that they are an elite franchise, and will be around for many years to come.
WILD THING!: Like I said last year, the Wichita Wild may have stumbled. But this year, they came roaring back, going back to the Conference Championship, albeit in the Intense Conference this year.
The Wild have this makeup that shows they will be a team to contend year in and year out. Hopefully, they can keep this going.
The T.O. Experiment: Allen bit the bullet early in the year, and tried to gain some momentum for the league, signing T.O. as an owner/player. But late in the season, they found out once again that T.O. is T.O., and nothing can change that.
It was reported he didn't want to travel to road games late in the year, even though his team was on the brink of the playoffs, and the final straw was his no-show at a local children's hospital event.
Bad Beef: The Omaha Beef is a proud franchise that has made the playoffs every year they've existed. Unfortunately, it had to end.
But it wasn't without controversy. Late last year, the owner of the Beef was found to having crack cocaine mailed to him at the Beef's headquarters, and the league took over the Beef's operations from the owner. They did qualify for the playoffs, but the league decided that they didn't want to finance the team's travel to Sioux Falls, so Lehigh Valley was chosen as the final spot.
Those are the biggest stories of the year for the Indoor Football League.

A new league has spawned from several teams. The Champions Professional Football League. It was founded by the owner of the Sioux City Bandits, who left after two seasons in the APFL. And it's looking to be a pretty decent league. Here are the teams so far: Wichita Wild (left the IFL) Bloomington Edge (left the IFL) Kansas Koyotes (APFL) Lincoln Haymakers (formerly the Council Bluffs Express) Kansas City Renegades (expansion) Salina Bombers (expansion) Oklahoma Defenders (APFL) Mid-Missouri Outlaws (APFL) Sioux City Bandits (APFL) Also, the Cheyenne Warriors have left the APFL and have joined the IFL, which is now down to 10 teams. Also, it's looking like the Omaha Beef have folded after 12 years of solid football.

And, after two years, the Indianapolis Enforcers end their miserable existance with a 2-18 record, and being outscored 1056-235.
My God, they sucked.

More breaking news: The 2-time CIFL and current UIFL champion Cincinnati Commandos have suspended operations for 2013, looking to return in 2014.

Former Billings Outlaws and current Sioux Falls Storm quarterback Chris Dixon has signed on with the Orlando Predators of the AFL.
I think it's appropriate to say this is my reaction:

That's almost enough to make me replace the Rush as my favorite AFL team. I'll slide them into the number 2 spot. Oh, the ArenaBowl is just a rematch of last year's game between the Rattlers and the Soul if anyone is keeping track. Game will be on the 17th.

My team is still the Orlando Predators and my #2 team will be whenever they get a team in the DC area or they finally bring back the Albany Firebirds.

Since today is the last official day of the Arena/Indoor Football season, I thought I'd do my wrap up of the 2013 Indoor Football League season, with the big stories of the year.
A NEW STORM RISES: After dominating the last two years under the guidance of quarterback Chris Dixon, the Sioux Falls Storm looked to be in an unfamiliar place as the entire team was released after last year due to the demands of the other teams in the league. However, after the teams were locked in for the 2013 Season, the Storm started to rebuild, bringing back a lot of the same guys, including Chris Dixon. However, Dixon made the announcement that he was moving on to the AFL, leaving the Storm in a bind. But they picked up Martevious Young, and standout out of Southern Miss, to be their new quarterback. After a rough start, losing to Nebraska 30-21 in the second game of the year, Young was sidelined with a injury for a few weeks. They brought in Dwight Dasher, who looked to be another great pickup after a 67-7 blowout victory against Wyoming. But another tough loss came after that, losing to Colorado, 37-33, leaving the Storm 2-2 and questioning themselves. But then, a familiar face returned to the field, as 4-time UIF Champion QB Terrance Bryant returned from retirement to guide the Storm with his veteran leadership. It looked to be a good idea, but the Storm still stumbled during the season, losing a close one in Chicago, 61-56, and a demeaning blowout loss in Cedar Rapids, 52-18, leaving the Storm 6-4, and leaving the possibility of the Storm not making the playoffs for the first time since 2009. But they rallied around each other, winning the last 4 games, and gaining homefield advantage. The United Bowl came down to the last few seconds, as the Nebraska Danger missed a game-tying field goal, and the Storm took home a third straight National Championship, 43-40.
DANGER ZONE: The biggest surprise of the 2013 IFL Season had to be the rise of the Nebraska Danger. A team in its third year of existence, the Danger improved from their inaugural 3-11 and 5-9 second season records to go 10-4 and be atop of the Intense Conference. Even more shocking, the Danger was the team to end the 20-game winning streak of the Sioux Falls Storm, upending the defending United Bowl Champions, 30-21, in their season opener at the Danger Zone. They would be the team to beat in the Intense Conference, defeating the Colorado Ice in the Conference Championship, 55-50, before falling to the Sioux Falls Storm in the United Bowl. But it was a year of greatness for the Danger, behind QB Jameel Sewell, who was named the 2013 IFL MVP. So the future looks bright for this franchise, who look to stay dominant and compete for their first National Championship.
FALL FROM GRACE?: Two teams that were perennial title contenders for the last two years fell flat on their faces this year. The Tri-Cities Fever, who went 22-6 the last two seasons and was United Bowl Runner-Up the last two season, started off 1-6, with their only win coming against the Nebraska Danger. Granted, they went 5-2 to finish, but ended with a 6-8 record, and missing the playoffs for the first time since joining the IFL. Another team that went through a tough season was the Green Bay Blizzard. The Blizzard, a powerhouse in the af2 as well as the IFL, have made the playoffs since 2005, didn't live up to expectations this year, ending up 4-10, last in the United Conference and missing the playoffs the first time in 8 years.
DARK TIMES AHEAD?: Before the year even started, the IFL lost a team, as the Cheyenne Warriors folded due to the majority owner passing away in December. But the league continued on with 9 teams, but the harmony didn't last long. At the last game of the year between Chicago and Green Bay, Chicago had to use replacement players to fill out the roster to finish the year. After the year ended, three teams were looking to be on borrowed time. The Green Bay Blizzard are looking for owners to take over the team, but if nobody is found to buy the team by the beginning of September (two weeks), the team will probably fold. The same is being said for the Chicago Slaughter, as they are looking like they may fold as well. Tri-Cities was in danger of folding, but the owners have decided to continue, even though they have lost money the last four years of the team's existence. With talks of a new team in Mesquite, TX, as well as Fargo and Bemidji being talked up, the league is hoping to return to the glory years of the league. But time will only tell.
