[People have good reason to bash Hogan, Warrior and Goldberg. Yet you act like it is complete nonsense because for some reason they were popular so that makes it all good. No they sucked. Even Hogan will admit he's not the greatest wrestler. But they clicked with the crowd. That is all. Forgive me but, what else is there? It's not real so 'connecting with the crowd' i.e getting more people interest and making the most money is surely the be all and end all isn't it? Bret Hart seems to have a very set outlook on life now. If you agree with him over the Montreal incident you're a great guy and if you don't you're an asshole. In many ways he is the master of his own downfall. Because all he's been doing seemingly for nine years is moan and cry about it, people cannot disassociate the two (Bret/Screwjob) and it HAS overshaddowed every thing in his career. If he was smart he'd have turned up on Nitro and cut a promo saying how he had no hard feelings and wanted to move on. That would have totally taken the sting away from WWE, cooled the situation down and allowed him to carry on with his career. Instead he made it the biggest thing ever by crying about it all the time.

Wait... Rude was still in DX then, right? Or maybe not, I don't remember. Are we to assume he didn't know Bret was going to get screwed? Vince, Hebner, Michaels, HHH and Russo knew. That's it I believe.

Is Warrior known to trash Rude in interviews? If so, I'm more inclined to believe Rick slapped him silly. I'd like to see a Rick Rude DVD, however I can see the last part of his career when he jumped ship before passing away being spin-doctored by Vince and Co. so that it was in fact WCW that killed Ravishing Rick. If that's too hard for some people to believe, they didn't see the Miss Elizabeth peice on Confidential. In his shoot interview Warrior is very complimentary of Rude, saying they had worked together in the territories before the WWF. He says that Rude taught him a lot and never tried to take advantage of young wrestlers unlike other veterans.

Bret Hart seems to have a very set outlook on life now. If you agree with him over the Montreal incident you're a great guy and if you don't you're an rear canal. First of all, I agree that Bret kept bringing up Montreal way too long and people got sick of it. But a Montreal discussion deserves it's own thread. So I won't go into that. But the other point about wrestlers clicking with the crowd. Example: Bill Goldberg squashed jobbers for months, was booked as an unstoppable monster and the crowd loved it. He had the intensity and looked cool. That made him click with the crowd. If WCW would have put him in normal matches that lasted longer then 2 minutes (that even was part of the gimmick that most guys didn't last longer then 2 minutes in the ring) people would have seen how green he was in the ring. That would have seriously killed his entire push. Now imagine that, that a wrestler is so weak in many aspects that the company has to hide it by protecting him. They ever fired Regal because Regal forced Goldberg to wrestle a normal match. The same happened with Warrior. And that is not good for a company. And as ECW proved, any wrestler can click with the crowd. They had Mikey Whipreck as champion and people bought it. They had Justin Credible as world champion and he was a good champ. ECW got guys over who were always seen as jobbers. And why did that happen? Because ECW was able to hide their flaws. Have Super Crazy wrestle Tajiri, Lynn, Guido and Psicosis on a regular basis and keep him away from a microphone. Have New Jack hit people over the head with stuff, keep his music on and let him give entertaining promos. And people accepted them and marked out huge for them. The best wrestler is a wrestler who doesn't need to be protected. Look at Austin or The Rock. Just give them a mic or 30 minutes for a match. No problem, they can do it. Same with Flair, Foley, Micheals, Hart. True talents who could work and who could talk and who didn't need to be protected. Warrior and Goldberg were guys who clicked with the crowd because the company forced them to the fans and the fans liked them. But that didn't make them a good wrestler or even very important to the company. Because Warrior's spot might as well be given to Kerry von Erich and the fans would react the same and looking at how over Kerry was that could have been possible. And Goldberg could have been replaced by Sean O'Haire for example. And when a wrestler is replaceable and needs to be protected. They are not good wrestlers. You need to look at them from a business point of view too. And remember that pro-wrestling fans do watch for the wrestling because for hot women, crazy storylines or comedy there are tons of other tv-shows that can deliver that 100 times better.
