I would laugh if I look at my friends list on November 10th and see EVERYBODY playing Modern Warfare 2. But would you be surprised?

Hey TexasTornado, if I'm still on your friends list, you sure won't see me playing that game, the Call of Duty games have never done anything for me.
Besides.... LEFT 4 DEAD 2!!!! (A week away, but still...)

For 2 reasons. 1.) I hate running games. Hate them! I've never been able to get a successful run in ANY football game (including the Blitz games...) 2.) I hate football games, so I never took the time to try it beyond the 10 seconds I played the demo. I'm more a baseball guy, anyway...

I still have the certificate from them saying I was accepted (back in fall of '05). I swear when I watch Sheffield play, it's like watching my Campus Legend QB playing (I always make myself a QB wearing #1).

Was playing Saints Row 2 today, and noticed something. The billboards are updated with recent stuff. Take for example, one was advertising The Jeff Dunham Show that is coming to Comedy Central. Also, in the UFC game the rings are constantly updated, for the upcoming events, I think its kinda cool. What is everyones thoughts on this.

I mean... I think Jeff Dunham sucks so if I got to blow up said Billboard then I'd be cool with it. However, when I can't do that (like the Burger King in Fight Night) then I'm not a fan of it.

So I bought a Halloween Premium Theme. Probably the most useless thing I have spent my fun buckz on besides a lightsaber for my avy, but it's cool nonetheless. It's like a spooky pumpkin patch. I also got an awesome L4D premium theme with my latest issue of OXM.

Yeah, a few games do in-game advertising. It's actually a blessing and a curse, as it gives it a sense of modern-ness, while at the same time bringing you back into reality when you are trying to escape from.
I think it was at it's worse when (THIS IS NOT POLITICAL, I'M JUST STATING IT AS A POINT OF RIDICULOUSNESS!) a certain candidate was campaigning in games.
Please don't get this thread locked...

The worst was the Netflix ads.
They were just this BRIGHT RED boards with Netflix in white. REALLY didn't match any of the backgrounds, and they were all over the place.

Yeah, some of the adverts are annoying. I got no problem when it fits the game (for instance... if Sega was smart, they'd make a new Crazy Taxi and throw in some billboards) or the game is free (1 vs. 100 with Sprint, Doritos Dash of Destruction) or even cheap.
Sports games aren't too bad as long as they make some sense.

It's fine in games, it's just something that is bothersome when you have 30 Netflix bright red billboards when you are on a two-minute drill going downfield in Madden. Or around the entire arena in Smackdown V Raw. My eyes divert to the bright colors easily, which costs me concentration.

My PS3 does the same thing for MLB The Show 09. I've seen Subway and Jack in the Box ads in game that weren't normally there.
But the ads themselves are through microsoft, not individual companies. Yes, the manufacturers have the spaces open, but it's up to Microsoft whether or not to add the ads, so they went ahead and did it.
There was a lot of mudslinging going on when Microsoft announced that they'd start adding advertising on Live Gold memberships (I was just as angry... I paid for no ads, why the **** add ads after I paid to NOT have them), so we'll see where that takes us.

Anyone ever find the random DC Logo billboards in Prototype?
