In the past few months, I've been getting texted so much and since I don't have a text plan, I'm getting charged pretty badly. I just got my bill for this month and I'm being charged an additional $8 for roughly 50 texts, 37 of which were received. It's gotten really bad now that my best friend, who normally swore off texting, got a new phone and texts me quite a bit. So I'm wondering what all of your texting habits are because I'm trying to figure out what kind of texting plan I should get and whether it would be enough.
I would get unlimited texting if possible but to do that, I'd have to change my plan entirely to one that supports it. I don't want to do this because #1) I hardly use the minutes I have as it is and #2) Despite the Alltel/Verizon merger, my plan is still at Alltel's price, which is cheaper than the Verizon equivalent. But I got an insert with my bill last month saying I could get a texting package added to my plan. Unfortunately, the number I had to text it to didn't work (hell, probably about 10 of my texts this month were me just trying to see if the number worked). The least expensive bundle is 250 texts for $5 but I don't know if 250 will be enough. The next one up is 500 texts for $10 and texts between Verizon customers are free (which doesn't apply for the 250 bundle). Anything beyond that would be out of my price range.

I am never texting. Maybe it is because I am lazy and it takes me ages to text something, but I am more the phone guy.
In the last 12 months I have probably texted like 3 times and if someone texts me, I call him.

I don't text, I prefer to phone them, it's quicker and easier.

Not at all. I can't stand texting. I'd rather talk on the phone if I need to say something.

I haven't used a cellphone in years, so I don't text is my answer. For some reason, I dislike getting messages which is my main reason of not owning a cell phone. It's either call me at home or use the internet, or try to find me outside.

Whenever I run out of credit, I'm very stingy about it and I don't top up until I go out somewhere at the weekend.
If I top up by £10 I get 50 free texts at the weekend, so whenever that happens- like this weekend for example, that's the only time I go on a texting frenzy.

I am a teenager and don't text at all. Don't have very many friends, so that is a big reason why not.

I try not to text too often,I get texts and usually text a response, but I don't hold conversations over text because I don't have unlimited texting and don't want to run up the bill.

90% of my text messages are ones exchanged between me and my girlfriend. I might exchange a couple here and there between my parents or friends, but that may happen once per week or so. I have an unlimited texting plan so I really don't keep track of an exact number of texts sent or received.

I've had a cell phone for at least 6 years, and I don't think I once sent a text message.

I pay a $70 a month phone bull with unlimited texting and I send at least 100 a day which adds up to be about 3000 a month.

I don't know how to do so, but even if I did, I probably wouldn't.

I needed an option for over 2000 but under 9000. I can easily do 200+ a day when talking to the b/f.
I text more than I talk to people, possibly because I hate talking to people or just hate people in general.

I used to think texting was stupid.... but really, it's great because most of the time, especially for work, I don't want to really talk to the person (I hate chit chat). So a quick series of texts can get the work done. I'm an athletic director so texts work great for instant group information sharring (emails work well too... but texts are automatic). I'm also a coach, so quick texts to the players reminding them of fundraising etc... works great too. So I'm in the 1000-2000 catagory.

Uhm...about 200 maybe? If not a bit more. I don't try to text too much. Met this girl recently, and all we do is text each other. Not everyday, but every couple of days or so. I think we've had 1 actual phone conversation and she seems to be very fond of me, almost to the "I think I'm falling for you" stage. I prefer to text than to call. This probably doesn't make a lot of sense, but I think a lot can get done by texting than through phone calls. I hate chit chatting.
