Ah *sigh* the first episode of a new season. That's the great thing about Venture Brothers: not just in it for the audience's laughs in mindless batches, it's actually brilliant storytelling that makes the audience EARN their OWN laughs and appeciation. Thanks Jackson Publick. Why doesn't this show get Emmy nods the way some others do without much substance? If they really wanted to earn laughs from me, they'd let me shoot them.

All I can say is to all you assassin groups: If you fight another group which includes Brock Samson.....
Run.

That makes sense. I watched it on the west feed - I tend to watch that one over the regular feed, even though it's not in HD and I'm on the east coast - and I really had no idea what was going on. (Completely missing season three didn't help, either.) I ended up staying way too late to catch it. I'm going to be tired tomorrow, but it was worth it.

Welcome back Venture Brothers, man how we missed you. It's stuff like this and Metalocalypse that makes me put up with Adult Swim's crap the rest of the year.
So let's see what new things we learned in this new episode. They confirmed some of this at the '09 San Deigo Comic-Con, but I thought it might be a bit of a refresher. Also if I get something wrong please correct me.
- Sargent Hatred is now with the OSI and is the bodyguard of the Ventures. He was forced to undergo reprogramming to remove his "tendencies for the young". - Sargent Hatred has taken up the task of training Hank in combat. - Brock seems to think (wrongly) the OSI are after him. - The biggest news seems to be that Brock is now with Sphinx. Sphinx appears to consist of former OSI members including sargent Hunter Gathers. - Hunter Gathers appears to have been behind sending the three assassins after Brock both to infiltrate the Blackhearts and remove Brock from his previous mission. - Apprently, Sargent Hunter Gathers was the mole inside the Blackhearts, Molotov's assassin group. - The boys have aged by about a year. Hank has grown long hair and Dean now has whickers on his upper lip. - Because of the explosion H.E.L.P.e.R head was lodged in Brocks' chest. Brock had to have it removed by a doctor. - 21 is trying to find someone to resurrect 24. - The Ventures destroyed a valuable comic 21 gave to Dr. Venture as a payment to clone 24. - 21 has gone from henchman to villain. (Maybe, the costumes threw me off)
I'm sure I may have missed some things, but I'm at work right now. I'll watch the episode again tonight.

When is this airing again, or at least posted online? My DVR copy (the CN-West midnight showing) was messed up in that the show restarted from the beginning at the commercial break, meaning that I watched half of the episode twice, which I was unsure of for a couple of minutes due to the jumping around.

You've got most of it, also they had a Hitler-dog and 21 apparently acquired the X-1 and an evil LARP gang....or perhaps it's just his usual LARP gang and they seemed evil because of the context....All I know is that the structure of the episode, while interesting, confused me enough to warrent an extra watching.

I'm gonna gripe for a second. I work a schedule where I have to be to work at 8AM in the morning, which means I'm up at 6:30 AM to get freshened up and do the race to work. I can't stay up til friggin' midnight to watch this show. I love this show. Why in the f*** would they move this show to 12AM?! The violence? Seriously? I hope that's not the reason. I also hope it's not because they don't want to screw the time slot on that "Titan Crapassicus" which is NOT funny. A few years ago, they showed it at 11PM on Sundays, then 11:30PM and I was good with that.
Done with my gripe.
I know, I know, catch it on AdultSwim in a few months when they're so gracious to post it. Boo.

I'm not sure if AS still does this, but I know last season they would show new Venture Brothers on the internet fridays before the new episodes. I do agree with you on the 12am time and lameness of Seth Green's new show.

Yeah, Adult Swim is targeted towards the present college 'n stoner crowd, not towards the 2002 College and Stoner Crowd. It's airtimes are always a nightmare for anyone who wakes up before 9. Good episode, but it will have to be watched again before I fully get it. Re: Sphinx www.adultswim.com/video/?episodeID=8a25c3921a8130c6011a8241f5ce000c

I think one question people are forgetting to ask is "who was the invisible guy trying to escape?"

If they really wanted to earn laughs from me, they'd let me shoot them. Jackson Publick, or the other shows? I meant that as a reference to the episode, when Sgt. Hatred wanted Hank to shoot him to earn his trust.

So far, a really good beginning to the season. I loved how they told the Venture side of the story through the deterioration of the comic book.
