The feeling that I have my whole life ahead of me. Oh, and the inablity to decide the name of the decade.

The carefree days before the morning of September 11th, 2001. Anyone still remember what THOSE days were like? It was a new millennium, and it seemed like everything and anything was possible...and our best days were all ahead of us.

I really miss the aura of optimism the decade started off with.

With George Carlin long gone, I already miss his observations on life. They pretty much molded me into who I am today, and is one of the few things I remember from this mediocre decade.
I'll also miss college. In fact, I already do.

I'll miss my teen years (which are coming to a close). Great times! You're gonna love your twenties. You're still young enough to feel like Superman and blend in with the teenagers and stuff, yet you're not old enough to be jaded and cynical and have a house payment or a colonoscopy. I miss those days.

The thing I will miss most is my college years specifically my first and final years. The fall of 2004 and the spring of 2005 was my first two semesters in college and everything was not perfect but it was very good. Then the summer of 2005 all hell broke loose and I did not care about college for several years. Spring of 2007 I took the semester off to get back on track and the fall 2007 and spring 2008 was great.
My friends who I do not get to see anymore. One moved with his wife to Colorado another one is going to college in Alabama and I see sometimes and another one lives in Memphis and is getting married in a few weeks and chances are I will not be able to make his wedding. I am seriously thinking about leaving town as well and trying elsewhere.

The radio show Get This with Tony Martin. The Chaser's War On Everything. Newstopia. Top Gear on SBS (I have a feeling Channel 9 will butcher it) Each one of these is like a stab to the heart. DAMN YOU

The World Wrestling Federation.
And even though it was on its last legs and becoming laughably bad, World Championship Wrestling.

It was a new millennium, and it seemed like everything and anything was possible...and our best days were all ahead of us. That's true. That day set the tone of this decade: dark, dreary, sad, and depressing.

Seeing the Lord of the Rings movies when they premiered. The entire rest of the decade can burn as far as I'm concerned.
