Ya, it seems to be a running trend with Microsoft. 98 was everything 95 was supposed to be, XP was everything ME was supposed to be and now 7 is everything Vista was supposed to be. Personally, I switched to 7 recently and I love it. Yep, that's pretty much accurate. Though, of course, nothing measures up to how godawful ME was. Ya, my parents ended up with ME for a year or 2, god I hated that.

Yeah, I love 7. I ran the RC for a long time and, it's excellent. I mean I had no problems with Vista but, 7 is just that much better. As for Word/Office: www.theultimatesteal.com If you have a college email address (one ending in .edu) you can get Office 07 for $60. I got my copy of Win7 from them for $30. It's MS run so it's legit. Though with 2010 coming out soon you might want to wait.

I am not impressed with it, to be honest. I can't find half of what I might want on it just yet, and the lack of certain Microsoft proprietary programs is highly annoying. Granted, many of them I can download for free from the University, but it is quite annoying all the same.

The only thing I haven't liked on it thus far was what I thought was the removal of the "show desktop" button down on the taskbar where quick launch used to be... till I discovered purely on accident that it was tucked over in the bottom right corner on the other side of the clock. I could have used a note on that somewhere. Other than that, it's the best OS I've ever used.
