Frank Gore just got on his horse. Sheesh, about 15 minutes ago the Eagles had this one almost salted away...

F*** you football gods. Gradowski is playing great, he goes down. Now Frye is actually playing decent and now he's out too. FUIOWR79P 23R813R9-112 Wait, is that... JaMarcus Russel's music?

Even though the Patriots managed to win on the road and possess a coherent pass rush, two things they have been seemingly unable to do all season, Bill Belichick's descent continues. He made another inexplicable call this afternoon. The Patriots had the ball at their eight-yard line after a holding penalty. It was 1st and 13 with just over four minutes to play, and Buffalo had two timeouts remaining. The first play was a little two-yard run that led to Buffalo using one of their timeouts. Exactly what you'd expect any team to do in that situation. The second play? An incomplete play-action pass with Brady rolling out and forced to throw under pressure from the goal line. It bled maybe four seconds off the clock. On 3rd and 11, Brady bombed it down the sideline to a double-covered Sam Aiken for an incomplete pass. The drive summary? Four plays, -2 yards, 32 seconds elapsed. Three plays later, Buffalo was in the end zone for a suddenly one-score game. Bill Belichick in 2009 reminds me of Keith Foulke in 2005. Both were at the top of their games prior to the season where it all fell apart, both were unstoppable in the closing moments of games, neither blew big leads or fell short with the game on the line. However, they both inexplicably fell apart at getting the job done in the final minutes. I mean, I'll take the win. 9-5 looks a whole helluva lot better than 8-6. But Belichick has looked really, REALLY bad in the closing moments of games all season, not just 4th and 2. Much as I dislike the Pats, if it comes to choosing a head coach currently in the league, I'll take Belichick 9 out of 10 times. That said he has an off year as far as managing towards the end of the games go. I don't know whether he's still stuck in a "this team is elite" mode after the 07 season and going 11-5 without Brady last year, but he isn't making conventional decisions anymore. Not that the Patriots don't have great players, but they aren't as stacked anymore and it looks like he's trying to force both Brady and the young talent to play elite instead of just playing conventional football. I think everyone is still caught in a 2007 mindset. That season was an anomaly, it was an outlier. The Patriots had the right team and they got all the bounces to go their way until the very end. Aside from that team, the Patriots have only had two "elite" teams, 2003 and 2004. Look at their resume under Belichick since 2001: 2001: 11-5 (won Super Bowl XXXVI) 2002: 9-7 (missed playoffs) 2003: 14-2 (won Super Bowl XXXVIII) 2004: 14-2 (won Super Bowl XXXIX) 2005: 10-6 (lost in divisional playoffs) 2006: 12-4 (lost in Conference Championship) 2007: 16-0 (lost in Super Bowl XLII) 2008: 11-5 (missed playoffs) The Patriots, even when they were 14-2 and winning Super Bowls, never dominated. They won games by scores of 9-3, 12-0, 30-20 and 13-7. They always just played right and managed to escape with a win. The 2007 season changed all that. People now expect the Patriots to beat teams by scores of 49-28, 52-7 and 56-10. The 2007 season changed people's perspective of Brady, as well. While he's always been an elite quarterback, arguably the best quarterback in the game and one of the best quarterbacks ever, 2007 was his only year with eye-popping stats. Here are his TD-INT totals since 2001: 2001: 18-12 2002: 28-14 2003: 23-12 2004: 28-14 2005: 26-14 2006: 24-12 2007: 50-8 2008: 0-0 2009: 23-11 While people can say that Brady doesn't look the same this year, and that is true to some extent, he's not having a terrible year. He's pretty much right on pace with where he's been all season, its just that this year, he's short-hopping throws and mismanaging the fourth quarter, two things he NEVER did prior to his knee injury. As for the deep ball, the 2001-2006 Patriots rarely, if ever, went deep. And when they did, they had about the same success as they're having this season. So while Brady and Belichick are possibly the best quarterback-coach combo in the game, and they are having rough years, a lot of the negativity towards them is all surrounding 2007 and how that built such impossible expectations for this team. If I had to compare the '09 Patriots to any of their predecessors under the Belichick era, I'd say they are most similar to the 2005 edition. That team was plagued by a weak secondary, bad off-season acquisitions and an inability to close games out. However, they managed to beat a far superior Jacksonville team in the first round, and shot themselves in the foot in Denver a week later, which is how I could see this year's postseason playing out. A dominant win at home in round one and a tough loss to a better team in the divisional round.

Apparently the Eagles heard during the half that if they win this game they're in the playoffs, because they look so feeble on defense right now.

We have to use a time-out because Rusell can't even get the play off in time. I seriously don't think I've ever loathed a single football player the way I loathe Russell.

So umm, is everyone's team on here struggling?
It must be nice to just watch a boring blow out by your favorite team once in a while. *sighs*

Tell me Andy Reid isn't wearing an NFC Championship ring....
And just like that, McNabb to Jackson strikes again. Predictable, but it works..

SO glad Jackson came up with that because that looked like an interception waiting to happen.
