Wow, both intruiging and depressing. Sad to see the place just rotting away.

Why did they abandon it?

Wow, how have they not demolished and put something else there yet?
As to why it's closed...probably wasn't making as much money as Typhoon or Blizzard Beach.

OH MY GOD! I remember going there as a kid. Man I probably still have photos of my dad on one of the water slides...Sad to see it in this shape.

Wow, it reminds me no matter the skyscrappers we build or the depths we dig mother nature will always take back what's hers.
Well that's my depressing thought of the day.

I remember being their as a kid. It was actually connected to the Fort Wilderness Resort where we were staying. We liked it better than Typhoon Lagoon, probably because it was smaller and less crowded. Those pics are a little sad for a place that has such nice memories..

You mean that's not Typhoon Lagoon? *Whew* I had no idea there was another water park.

It was always one of the less popular parks first off and I was told that wildlife like snakes were making their way into the water.

Disney had a water park? I never knew. Wet and Wild was better anyways,

Aw that's sad. I loved that one. It seemed pretty busy when I was there. Of course, that was at least 15 years ago.

It was always one of the less popular parks first off and I was told that wildlife like snakes were making their way into the water. The reason it was closed was because it was fed from a natural spring. In 2001 Florida passed a law saying that water parks could not do this anymore due to health concerns. Since it was not as popular as the other two Disney water parks Disney decided to just close it down.

I went to it in 99 and was disappointed. Despite what it looks like, there really wasn't that much there. It was almost an overglorified pool for Fort Wilderness.
Also, I'm shocked Blizzard Beach is still open. Both times I went I got burnt like you wouldn't believe. No shade, and white reflects heat. Good design plan.

You could almost use this as an example for History Channel's Life After People. In 8 years, this is what could happen.
