There have been a lot of great ones listed, and I'd like to add TMNT 2003.

From a quality standpoint, I'm inclined to say Avatar: The Last Airbender. It's not quite as mainstream as Family Guy, but it had tons of success of its own and is infinitely better. Plus, how many other cartoons get a movie adaptation at a $100 million budget in a planned $300 million trilogy? I'm with you on this one buddy. Yes, Spongebob is the more popular show but I really think that it has overstayed its welcome. The first few seasons were great but enough is enough. Avatar, on the other hand, kept its plot nice and direct. It had amazingly well developed characters for a kid's show and was surprisingly mature of a show on Nickelodeon, while stilling being pretty damn funny. Throw in excellent artwork and a massive budgeted movie trilogy and you have your winner.

1 3) Invader Zim - Yeah, I know all the mallgoths flock to it like sheep, but that doesn't mean it's not absolutely hilarious in every way. It was cancelled entirely too soon, and was just so damned hilarious. Every character was brilliant. I'm becoming a Balogna!

Spongebob Squarepants is the cartoon people will associate with the '00s.
Nothing can even come close to the levels of popularity that show has reached within all demographics. Family Guy may be next in line, but it's miles and miles away. Futurama is awesome, but as good as it is, it doesn't stand a chance against Spongebob.

I'm a Venture Bros. man myself. I know it's not the most colossal thing ever, but it's easily my favorite cartoon in recent memory. The absurdity of that type of stuff being presented in a pseudo-realistic manner is just too much fun.

I can't believe no one mentioned Phineas & Ferb P&F could end up being the Spongebob of the 2010s, so long as Disney doesn't put that 65-episode BS on it. Even right now, it's a strong candidate. 1. Family Guy 2. Avatar: The Last Airbender 3. Fairly Oddparents. Still going on since 2001, and unlike Spongebob, hasn't taken a steep dropoff in quality. 4. Phineas & Ferb. 5. The Boondocks. 6. The Venture Bros. 7. Kim Possible. Considering that it's one of the few shows that bypassed the 65-episode rule (I believe Darkwing Duck & DuckTales also did.) makes it a decent candidate.

What about Total Drama Action/Island since that has gotten popular as of late?

For me, it's a tie between Avatar and Venture Bros. Honorable mentions go to Family Guy and the Boondocks.

Here is my top 7
1. Family Guy - Basically what the opening post said.
2. Futurama - Do I even need to explain.
3. One Piece - For a show that started decade (October 20th, 1999) ago, it still going really strong and haven't in drop quality like most tv shows would been by this point in its run. With the 10th Movie ( the movie was written by the manga creator, Oda) being a huge box office hit in Japan.
4. Kim Possible - Pretty much an really underrated show, that have a lot of great characters and the cast chemistery really help the show out a lot.
5. Sealab 2021 - One of the early Adult Swim classics, A lot of qouteable lines that made me laugh to death.
6. Home Movie - In my opinion, the most underrated show on Adult Swim, It have great characters
7. Venture Bros - Pretty much one of the best cartoon on tv now, pretty much have everything from Great characters to great storylines, and the show grows on you very fast.
