You know the little plot lines that have little to no connection to the main plot line in a episode. Mine must be 'Homer and the Sugar' from the episode 'Lisa's Rival'. Hell Homer coming into possession of big pile of sugar was way more entertaining then Lisa feeling threatened by smarter student in her class. OK what's yours?

Probably Moe converting the bar into a family restaurant in "Bart Sells his Soul."

Bart framing Milhouse and the feds hunting him down a la The Fugitive.

Pretty much all of these suggestions simply prove one thing...
...Homer Simpson is awesome.
Put me down for "Homer's Sugary Adventures" please.

Homer's Grease business in that other Lisa episode with a shockingly similar premise ;D First thing that came to my head. Uncle Moe's Family Feedbag was a close second

Homer as Mr. Sparkle, Homer as "Happy Dude", Homer can't control his cussing.
Homer does get a lot of these B-stories.

Homer digging for Abraham Lincoln's fabled treasure at the White House when Lisa was president in the future. "Wait a minute! Why did the vision of my future include mom and Homer looking for Abe Lincoln's gold?"

The episode where the kids get snowed in at school, the subplot involving Homer and Flanders trying to reach them was good stuff.
"What happened to your plow from your plowing business?" "What the hell are you talking about?" "You know, Mr Plow. You're wearing the jacket right now!" "I think I know my own life, Ned...Mr Plow, that's my name. That name again is Mr Plow"
Marge and Lisa painting eggs from the Vincet Price kit in the Super Bowl episode was good, too

what made the Suger plot was the picture on the bag of homer as a farmer and polite english guy stealing it for his tea

Definetly Homer as 'Happy Dude'
Ned: [sleepy] Howdily-diddely. Phone: Greetings, friends. Do you wish to look... Ned: Oh, it's that darn recording again. Maude: Of course it was. It's been calling all night. Just unplug the phone. [Ned turns out the light -- the phone rings again] Ned: Howdily-di... Phone: Greetings, friends... Ned: Dang! Maude: I told you to unplug the phone. Ned: But it could be my mother! [the phone rings] Howdy... Phone: Greetings, friends... Ned: Shoot! Maude: That is it, Ned! If you don't unplug that phone right now, you're sleeping on the lawn. Homer: Will you two shut up?! People are trying to sleep!

Bart and Lisa with Grandpa's metal detector in "Natural Born Kissers".
Original ending to "Casablanca" with Hitler hiding in Sam's piano and "It's a Wonderful Life" killing spree ending, FTW.

Me and my brother were discussing the other day how the subplot where Homer gets a vocabulary builder tape beats the main plot of Milhouse getting a girlfriend...tenfold!
