From ShockTillYouDrop:
Source:Ryan Rotten, Managing Editor October 1, 2009
New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. made it official today. Friday the 13th Part 2, a sequel to this year's Friday the 13th, is slated to hit on August 13, 2010.
Brad Fuller and Andrew Form tipped us off back in June right here, that if all goes according to plan, that was the date they were looking at. Fuller stresses to us, however, that the sequel still does not have a greenlight.
Damian Shannon and Mark Swift will return to write. And Derek Mears will absolutely be back to reprise his role as Jason Voorhees, contrary to the many wild rumors running around on the web.

Funny, I watched the remake on XBox live earlier, and since I enjoyed it I'll be seeing the sequel too.

I can't wait. I'll be there for the opening screening at my local theater.

Brad Fuller says on ShockTillYouDrop:
"I can't tell you anything about 3-D because New Line has not green lighted the movie because we haven't completed the script. So, we are waiting for the script to come in - then they'll budget- then they'll make a decision about 3-D. Having said that, I really hope that they decide to make it in 3-D."

So by this time in 2020, will we see a Jason X remake? What about Freddy vs. Jason with the new Freddy & Jason?
In all honesty, they should do a Saturday the 14th movie to see what Jason does the next day.

Oh gosh, not another one. I thought the first one was garbage.

Now Derek Mears will be the second person to play Jason Voorhees more than one time. I hope he thinks that is an honor since he will be joining the ranks of Kane Hodder (who alot of people say is the best Jason Voorhees) then.

Oh gosh, not another one. I thought the first one was garbage. It may have been awesomely bad, but this sequel is one that I do not mind because that means we get to see Derek Mears as Jason again.

It opens directly after the events of part 2, which was a Friday the 13th.

from BD:
File this one under WTF as Warner Bros. Pictures has removed Friday the 13th Part 2 in 3D from its release calendar and has now filed it under TBD. The sequel to the Platinum Dunes remake being scripted by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift was intended to hit theaters on Friday, August 13, 2010.

Remake wasn't terrible. Did all the things that the series is known for without any problems. But in this day and age of horror films, I think everybody expected something a little more from the movie, which is what I hope they fix for the second one. I mean, I don't want this movie to turn into another "SAW" knockoff, but at least you can come up with something new and exciting. Like the winter setting that was rumored.

So if the first one mashed the first three films from the original series together, can we expect this one to combine parts 4-6?
And then maybe part 3 can have him fighting a telekinetic girl all across Manhattan, hell and even outer space.
