Director is James Mangold, who of course did Cop Land, that Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line, and his last one was the really good western remake 3:10 To Yuma.
I'll give Mangold this. He always seems to get the most out of his actors, regardless if its a disposable chick flick (Kate & Leopold) or a dumb thriller (Identity) and so forth.
Bad news, Cruise choosing to do this movie killed David Cronenberg's planned spy thriller Cruise was going to do with Denzel Washington.
I rather would have that one instead.
