i also nominate Bad News (the bit pre-dates spinal tap by a year btw) I love Bad News. Some of the Comic Strip stuff was hilarious, especially Mr. Jolly lives Next Door. Oh and btw, Spinal Tap first appeared in 1979 so I think they pre-date Bad News. in terms of mockumentary of fake bands...Bad News Tour from the comic strip aired in april of 1983 and this is spinal tap was released in march of 1984 so roughly in terms of mocumentary as spinal taps 79 appearance was just a music video bad news took it a step further with the entire 45 minute episode about there tour. so thus bad news had there mockumentary a year before spinal taps. also gotta say bad hair day by weird al as being another one of my favorite comedy albums.

Oh yeah, this: The first album my five year old self had ever listened all the way through to. It's technically a comedy album, it's the soundtrack to a comedy.

Sam Kinison - What The Hell Happened To Me? (I think thats the title) You appear to have mangled three albums into one....... "Have You Seen Me Lately?" is likely the one you're thinking of. But you also have Live from Hell in your head or Louder Than Hell stuck in your head. For me the gold standard in comedy albums begins and ends with George Carlin's "Class Clown". After that, it's hard to pick, but I'd say Arizona Bay is high up there.
